The Tool Repair Technician is responsible for the repair of all manual, hydraulic tools, and small engines. This position supports the construction teams and works with personnel within the department. Also responsible for loading all trucks with the required tools according to the tool list.
Inspect and repair equipment as needed, such as manual crimping tools, bolt cutters, hydraulic crimpers,and pole tampers.
Perform operational checks of all tools after repairs are complete.
Repair and service generators, chain saws, and other small engines and associated equipment.
Load tools on new overhead and underground truck packages.
Deliver tools to various locations throughout the region.
Keep up stock levels of all tools, repair parts, and basic hardware for tool repairs.
Order repair parts, materials , and supplies as required.
Maintain work area and work stations in a clean, safe, and presentable manner.
9. Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Valid Drivers License.
Be able to attain a Class A Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of hire.
Mechanically incline and able to learn tool repairs in a reasonable amount of time.
Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
Ability to service and maintain various types of tools and small engines with associated equipment.
Good verbal communication skills.
Percise hand-eye coordination.
Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationship.
Must be or able to develop good organizational skills.
Must be able to complete paperwork (invoices and packing slips) as required and meet monthly deadline with sufficient training.
One or more years of experience.
DOT Certified Flagger.
Have basic level working knowledge of computer skills and able to work on develop excel spreadsheets.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This job is mostly performed in a shop environment.This role routiley requires extended periods of standing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Squatting, bending, climbing, kneeling are also required for short periods of time. This role requires some exposure to inclement weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, ice and wind.
The physical demand described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
