This position will be in the Human Resources division within Southern California Edison.
This Strategic Workforce Planning, Senior Specialist will provide a proactive, strategic consulting role that guides, influences, and builds organization and strategic workforce plans. The implementation of these workforce plans will involve the ongoing process of aligning short-term and long-term talent strategies to business goals. You will facilitate our end-to-end workforce planning approach including monitoring internal and external workforce trends; conduct supply and demand analysis, cost analysis, scenario planning, gap analysis, and forecast future demands. You will also participate in the development and prioritization of solutions and action plans as well as partner and work closely with HR Business Partners and COE’s, Organizational Leadership, Strategic Planning Groups, Finance, Corporate Real Estate, and Information Technology to ensure optimal integration with enterprise planning processes. You will develop strategic workforce plans to address enterprise business needs and align with the necessary stakeholders including: Talent Acquisition, Enterprise Learning & Development, Finance, Corporate Real Estate, and Information Technology. These workforce plans articulate our strategic, tactical, and financial goals, along with any risks and dependencies.
Day to day…
Identify challenges and trends

Create current workforce profiles
Analyze and developing benchmark strength
Identify human capital needs
Identify risks (retention, Talent Acquisition, succession planning, etc.)
Think through implications
Gain buy-in on action planning goals/metrics
Develop both short and long-term plans
Lead and facilitate workforce planning projects with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to prioritize needs, identify stopgaps, identify critical roles, and assess workforce risks and impacts. Prepares and delivers executive level briefings, reports, and presentations focusing on actionable human capital insights and operational/strategic impact.
Build strong internal partnerships/relationships with business leaders and business planning groups, acting as an internal consultant to define and achieve strategic business and workforce objectives
We are currently building a plan that will include activities that we and the consultant will take to build these partnerships. These meetings often include senior leadership (VP and SVPs, as well as Finance and other important stakeholders. This means that several different types of skillsets are required. This may be an outdated term, but this employee will need to have executive presence. To me, that means the right balance of character, substance, and style. On one hand, they need to be able to be financially articulate enough to speak with our finance counterparts. On the other hand though, they will need to exhibit their business and strategic acumen when meeting with high level leaders.
You Absolutely need to have…
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business or related field.
5 years of experience within a workforce planning, operational/strategic Finance, or human capital analytics function.
