Position Overview:

The Payroll Accountant will be in the Controller’s department within Southern California Edison’s (SCE’s) Finance Organizational Unit. SCE is searching for an experienced, service oriented, and dedicated individual to join our position on the Corporate Payroll team. The successful candidate should possess a strong background in accounting principles and practices; andthe application of federal and state regulations and policies related to payroll. The selected individual should possess strong drive, and have the ability to operate efficiently.

Typical responsibilities:

  • Preparing complex journal entries, including ensuring that payroll transactions are properly recorded.

  • Responsible for the payroll monthly closing process.

  • Performing account reconciliations with related variance analysis related to payroll and payroll taxes general ledger accounts.

  • Preparing internal and external accounting reports to support audits, regulatory filings and management reporting.

  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.

  • Three (3) or more years of experience performing Accounting tasks.

  • Experience with preparing journal entries and assisting with the monthly closing processat the corporate level.

  • Experience performing account reconciliations and variance analysis.

  • Experience with SAP or similar enterprise software.

  • Experience complying with SOX controls.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant.

  • Experience in a public accounting firm or utility environment.

  • Experience with VBA and SQL.

  • Effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, and team building skills, aswell as the ability to staycurrent with relevant technology and innovation.

  • Strong ethics, influence and negotiation skills, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication skills,and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to effectively communicate accounting issuesand business processes.

  • Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with peers, clients, management, and other organizations.

  • Ability to work in a team setting and have the ability to work across functions and departments in analyzing information developing information and solutions.

  • Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

Comments:

  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, California.

  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
