This position will be in the Portfolio Planning and Analysis department within Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Energy Procurement and Management (EPM) Business Unit. The successful candidate will report to EPM’s Manager of Portfolio Reporting & AFA and will support team leads on initiatives and projects to develop analytical insights, maintain existing analytical tools and reporting positions.
Utilize advanced data analytical/visualization tools to evaluate performance of Congestion Revenue Rights, Resource Adequacy, various bidding strategies, contract asset optimization, spot market trends and research operational anomalies to derive tangible financial savings.
Support SCE's Resource Adequacy filings, energy bidding strategies and operations, resource planning, power procurement, hedging, financial reporting, and other regulatory activities as needed.
Support SRAC, portfolio optimization, and Commodity Reporting as required.
Perform and support analysis of supply and demand conditions in electric, natural gas, emissions and other energy markets, production cost modeling, power system modeling and simulation that impact SCE’s positions and customers, and assists leads in making recommendations to refine market optimization and procurement strategies.
Perform evaluation on issues that have a moderate to major impact on the department, other departments, and the Company.
Support development of moderately complex analysis in response to changing business conditions and the appropriate model/formulas to apply.
Support leads making strategic decisions regarding changing project/product scope, policy, development, and implementation.
Support development of testimony for CAISO and CPUC staff in support of new energy market rules and regulatory proceedings.
Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned
Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
2 years of experience with statistical, mathematical, econometric, or financial modeling.
2 years of experience using advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-look-ups, macros, etc.), Word, Access and PowerPoint.
Experience using advanced data analytical/visualization tools such as R, Python, Power BI, Tableau or other similar tools.
Experience in writing SQL queries to retrieve data from Oracle and SQL Server databases.
Typically possesses three or more years of experience in field of quantitative analysis.
Understanding of the California energy markets and the related regulatory requirements that govern SCE’s participation in them by leading strategy development to increase the value of SCE resources and lower customer costs.
Experience with energy procurement and/or trading systems, energy planning activities, portfolio management, fundamental modeling, renewables and contracts.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused, to appropriately identify and respond to business needs and facilitate the presentation of recommendations.
Demonstrated experience in accurately analyzing information, integrating people, processes, systems, and technologies, and making strategic decisions regarding project scope, impact, development, and implementation.
Demonstrated ability to interface effectively with clients, peers, and all levels of management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.
Must demonstrate the ability to take initiative and accountability for results.
Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA
