Finance provides financial services to Southern California Edison and Edison International. This area provides the information you need to understand our goals, the services we provide, how we are organized, and who to contact with questions. Finance works with its business partners to understand their business requirements and utilizes the functional expertise of its people, its resources and its processes to deliver solutions to meet those requirements. The organization acts as a steward to do what is best for the company, ensuring that SCE meets or exceeds the sustainability, safety and compliance standards set by the corporation. Finance delivers efficient, reliable solutions through its 5 operating departments.
The Manager, Reporting is primarily responsible for earnings materials in internal and external financial reports.
Ensures all earnings reports and disclosures comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), government regulations, and Company policies
Conducts research on new accounting standards with a particular emphasis on disclosure requirements
Performs other external financial reporting and special projects
Review and approve internal/external earnings materials including the calculation of EPS and development of the earnings story for the Company. Communicate information internally/externally to a variety of stakeholders including executive management. These tasks include earnings materials for monthly earnings packages, board materials, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, and Investor Relations materials.
Support and consult with the Controller, Assistant Controller, and other executives on earnings drivers and key disclosures related to business issues.Effectively communicate (written and verbal) complex accounting matters to senior management and executives.
Review and approve disclosures in periodic reports filed with the SEC, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, California Public Utilities Commission, and other external reports (e.g. pension plans, 401(k) plans, debt compliance). Ensure all financial statements and disclosures are prepared in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Interpret accounting pronouncements, assess impact, reach accounting conclusions, communicate to required individuals, and implement new disclosures. Develop staff research and writing capabilities.
Develop accounting policies, procedures, or controls that improve the accuracy of the financial statements and efficiency of reporting.
Manage resources to meet strategic objectives and operational needs. Manage employee performance for direct reports. Establish performance expectations and goals aligned with Company objectives, policies and procedures. Manage, train, and develop staff by providing timely feedback, coaching, and support. Demonstrate Company values through decisions and actions. Promote the Company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field.
Five (5) or more years of accounting, business, or finance experience.
Experience interpreting and applying GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Experience in effectively communicating (written and verbal) accounting matters, making decisions, and delivering results.
Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work with all levels within the company.
Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, accountability and ownership, organizational skills, ability to multi-task, ability to effectively manage in periods of tight deadlines, and engage in continuous learning.
Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or related field.
Knowledge of regulated companies.
Accounting experience in a public accounting firm.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – may be inactive status.
