Position Overview

This position will be an IT Solution Architect in the Enterprise Architecture & Strategy department within Southern California Edison (SCE)'s Information Technology organization. The successful candidate will lead and develop Solutions Architectures and deliverables for projects in alignment with required business capabilities and technology standards. The IT Solutions Architect will assist in the development of a maturity assessment of the business capabilities for Enterprise portfolios (such as Supply Chain, Legal, and HR) and leads the development of business case for proposed large, complex projects and programs.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Support the business plans of the operating unit/portfolio, understand business capability assessment, translates new business needs into solution architecture requirements, defines solution options to enable new and maturing business capabilities, and understands the financial impact of solution architecture alternatives.

  • Coordinates and supports the development of solution architecture deliverables, approaches and guidance of overall Enterprise Architect (EA) solution patterns, guides EA reviews/standards, gains acceptance of solutions, ensure that the solution under consideration supports the direction for the technology domain and informs key stakeholders of review outcomes.

  • Provides embedded EA support and governance and monitors the work of project resources on strategic programs and projects as well as monitors and guides project resources when/if multiple projects are within a program.

  • Understands and articulates the proper integration across the enterprise and influences key business stakeholders, process owners, and program and project managers to ensure that program/ project objectives are met while providing a first line of decision making on architectural governance issues.

  • Educates plans, coordinates and communicates enterprise architectural principles at multiple levels of management including Project/ Program manager and ensures compliance with Enterprise Architecture governance standard as well as encourages component reuse.

  • Coordinates with lead solution architects and Enterprise Architects to understand the appropriate business/portfolio direction and to ensure that the solution under consideration supports the direction for the business capabilities and business outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 9 years of Information Technology and/or Technical experience.

  • 9 years of experience in architecture and engineering disciplines and practices including industry standard approaches and frameworks.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with various technology systems but not limited to Supply Chain, Legal, and HR.

  • Five years of IT solution architecture experience.

  • SAP and/or ERP experience.

  • Knowledge and/or experience of IT architecture and/or software and systems engineering disciplines.

  • Knowledge and/or experience of evolving IT technologies, SAP landscape, Power Plan or equivalent.

  • Knowledge and/or experience of the utility industry business processes and operations.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and must be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients' business needs.

  • Demonstrated experience interfacing effectively and collaborating with internal employees, third party entities, and all levels of management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • Must demonstrate effective, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
