A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • As one of the Commercial Asset Management Advisors in Generation’s Asset Management and Generation Strategy (AMGS) division, you will focus on maintaining and improving the commercial asset management program for SCE owned generating facilities. Generation’s commercial asset management program consists of two main functions - portfolio value optimization and optimal participation in the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) market.

  • Oversee CAISO market models and daily market offers of the Generation portfolio.

  • Lead facility value optimization projects to support generation portfolio value.

  • Develop and improve Generation value and cost models.

  • Conduct maintenance project valuations and risk scoring.

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional operations planning teams.

  • Complete operations forecasts, after the fact analysis, water flow planning, and ad-hoc reports.

  • Participate in and lead continuous improvement activities.


The essentials

  • Sevenyears of modeling and/or forecasting experience.

  • CAISO market experience.

  • Experience bidding, costing, and/or scheduling energy resources in formalized energy markets.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, economics, engineering, business, or other technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Master’s Degree in mathematics, economics, engineering, business, or other technical discipline.

  • Experience leading cross functional groups and gain consensus toward decisions.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Asset Management concepts.

  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt.

  • Project Manager Certification.

  • Three to five years CAISO markets and bidding strategy experience.

  • Experience modeling and forecasting hydroelectric resource performance.

  • Experience working with or in Generation, Transmission, Substation, or Distribution.

  • Knowledge of plant cost accounting tools and techniques.

  • Experience quantifying risk and ranking mitigations.

  • Travel– 20% travel required across SCE Generation territory including Big Creek, Bishop, and Redlands.
