Internship Program Overview:
This position is part of Southern California Edison’s (SCE) University and Campus Relations Internship Program. The Summer Internship program is a 10-12 week paid opportunity to gain hands-on experience with meaningful work, while developing your skills, and building your network. The internship has an estimated start date of May/June 2020 and an estimated end date of August/September 2020.
About Energy Procurement & Management (EPM):
Our Energy Procurement & Management (EPM) organization is responsible for developing SCE’s multi-billion dollar energy resource portfolio, with a particular emphasis on non-GHG emitting resources in furtherance of SCE’s clean energy dedication.
Internships available in the following departments of EPM…
Trading & Market Operations – Forecasting : As an intern in the Forecasting group within the Energy Procurement and Management organization, you will utilize your analytical proficiency to help develop new short to medium-term models and tools for the load, price, and generation forecast functions.
Information and Data Management: As an intern in the Information and Data Management group you will work closely with data science team to perform analytics tasks using tools such as R, Python, SAS and/orSQL. Participate in the routine activities of the Systems & Analytics group, as well be assigned to lead or participate in specific analytics projects.
Resource Optimization: As an intern in the Resource Optimization group your daily duties may include market analysis (AFA), assisting with bidding, strategy development, coordination, implantation and analyzing market trends in the energy and ancillary services markets.
- Must be currently be pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Economics, Math, Statistics or related field at an accredited institution with a graduation date of December 2020 or later.
Preferred GPA of 2.8 or higher.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Experience with R, Python, SAS and/or SQL.
Experience with quantitative analysis and statistical, mathematical, econometric, or financial modeling.
Interest in Energy and Renewables.
