Purpose of Position The storeroom supervisor directs, manages and controls all materials related functions including storeroom operations and inventory management. Responsible for all material availability within their defined geographic areas. Specific tasks include: directing the work and coordinating storekeepers in the day-to-day receiving and issuing of materials, overseeing inventory levels, resolving material shortages, and providing information to engineering and operations on material availability. This position also has responsibility for environmental compliance for receiving, storage, handling, and shipping of PCB and non PCB oil filled electric equipment, asbestos wastes, and other regulated and non regulated wastes at delivery facilities. This position is responsible for the safe operating practices of the workforce. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions) Oversee storeroom activities and issuance of materials at multiple locations. Verify inventory accuracy, expedite material requests of internal customers and resolve material conflicts. Specifically, ensure that material required for storm restoration, outages, construction, transmission and distribution projects is available in a timely fashion to minimize external customer disruption. This requires a high degree of coordination and communication between stores personnel, internal customers, external vendors and supply chain personnel. (20-25%) Directing the work of storeroom personnel in safe and efficient operation of the storeroom, administering the union contract, enforcing safety rules and organization goals and objectives planning. Improve all work performed within the department ensuring all storekeepers have received technical training. Assists in the development and administration of the department budget and reports on the work performed within the department. (20-25%) Coordinate and oversee the daily handling, record-keeping and compliance with all environmental regulations for their areas. They have specific responsibilities for receiving, handling, storage and shipping of PCB and non PCB oil filled equipment. This includes ensuring proper shipping manifests are maintained for each shipment. This position is responsible as the waste coordinator for facilities within their designated areas for proper handling, storage and shipping of asbestos and other regulated and non regulated materials. The storeroom supervisor is responsible for monthly facility inspections for SPCC plans and the maintenance of monthly and yearly environmental compliance documentation. (20%) Develop and lead initiatives to ensure inventory accuracy including complex analysis of inventory reports, cycle counting, and development of processes that optimize material movement, storage and material transactions. Participate on project teams devoted to efficiency, cost-reduction, inventory control, material standards and quality. (20%) Participate, take a key role, and provide technical expertise on company-wide supply chain projects as assigned. Examples of these projects include coordinating efficiency studies in storing and delivery of transmission and substation material, assessing the viability of replacing the legacy computer systems, or developing, testing and implementing a company-wide environmental procedure for polychlorinated biphenyl and waste handling. (10%) Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (5%) Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques. Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operation of the electric transmission and distribution system. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field or equivalent work experience (Typically six years of progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree). Four years of related experience, including one year in a senior technical/leadership role. Leadership skills to direct the activities of individuals and/or teams to the accomplishment of goals. Knowledge of material management. Effective oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. The ability to listen effectively, to transmit information accurately and to actively seek feedback. Influencing skills to persuade, direct, lead opinion and/or negotiate. Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills and ability to demonstrate these skills while under pressure. Influencing skills to negotiate and persuade, sell and lead opinion. Expertise related to material management computer programs. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
