Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:
Plays primary role in the Avangrid Distribution Automation Project. Directs up to 20 internal and contract line, system protection, and telecommunications crews installing, programming, and trouble-shooting distribution line reclosers, voltage regulators, capacitors, SCADA switches, and all associated appurtenances. Performs field surveys verification of existing equipment. Works closely with Electric Operations, and Operations technologies personnel. Ensures work is completed in accordance with internal and industry standards following approved policies, procedures, safety rules, budgets and in a manner that promotes customer satisfaction. Provides training as needed.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):
1.This position is responsible for ensuring the installation of automation devices is completed as scheduled and the devices operate as intended. Provides technical support to Electric Operations personnel including device programming, installation and trouble-shooting. Also provides input to develop Distribution Standards. Also may be required to train personnel on operations of distribution automation devices (60%)
2.Reviews project designs before and during construction to determine best economic design. Analyzes engineering alternatives and provide valid justification for projects. Ensures work is completed in accordance withinternal and industry standards following approved policies, procedures, safety rules, budgets and in a manner that promotes customer satisfaction. Maintains knowledge of company construction standards, rates, field operating procedures, safety instructions, union contracts, and accounting manuals. (30%)
3.Assists operations with storm restoration efforts. (10%)
Education & Experience Required:
Associates Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience or High School/GED with the and 7 years relevant experience required. Demonstrated experience installing and trouble-shooting distribution automation and communications devices.
Leadership experience preferred:
Strong project management skills.
Ability to multi-task.
Conceptual thinking: Identifying the key aspects of complex situations and understanding the big picture.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
SAP and Microsoft Suite skills
