Job Summary

This role recommends, facilitates and administers various company safety policies and programs, as well as, identifies workplace safety and health risks and pursues and implements corrective countermeasures. Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with all OSHA and company regulations. Performs site safety assessments. Monitors work practices to ensure employees are performing work in compliance with regulatory and company safety policies and procedures. Makes recommendations to leadership to improve safety performance. Serves as facilitator on area employee safety team. This position develops, implements and conducts worker safety training and performs new employee safety orientations and commentary drives. This position also monitors safety conditions and practices of contractors on construction sites and addresses compliance deficiencies with contractor leadership.

This position perform other duties as requested or assigned, including developing new safety training programs, as well as, planned and unplanned projects.

  • Over 50% industrial/field environment

  • Up to 50% travel/occasional overnight travel

  • During Atlantic Coast Pipeline construction and transition to operations, level of travel may increase.


  • This position is based out of Roanoke Rapids, NC and will support field sites throughout NC and VA.

  • Relocation assistance can be provided to the successful eligible candidate.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that arerequiredfor entry into this job include the following:

  • Knowledge of federal OSHA General Industry Standards (29 CFR 1910)

  • Knowledge of federal OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926)

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a hands-on safety professional in operations or construction in gas transmission, distribution, compressor station, and/or pipeline systems.

  • Self-motivated with high energy and able to work and perform independently at a high level.

  • Strong team building skills

  • Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft applications required.

  • Knowledge of FMCSA/DOT driver requirements preferred.

  • Experience facilitating industrial hygiene surveys a plus.

  • Experience preferred conducting root cause analysis.

  • Safety/IH Certification a plus (e.g. CSP, ASP GSP, CIH, OSHA 30, etc.).

Education Requirements

Bachelor degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Management or Industrial Hygiene.
