The Fuel Business Group combines activities associated with the conversion and enrichment of uranium and with the design and fuel production for nuclear reactors. The production capacities of the Group, one of the world's leaders in the sector, are undergoing modernization.

  • The Waste Processing Group: *

The Waste Processing group of Production Support Product Center is responsible for handling, sorting, sampling, designating, labeling and shipping hazardous waste, radioactive waste, mixed waste and other waste streams. Numerous mechanical processes are utilized to accomplish these activities.

This candidate must function well as a member of a work team yet be able to work independently with little oversight.

  • Job Description: *

  • Framatome is seeking a Waste Processing Manufacturing Tech II for our Production Support Product Center in Richland, WA. * Duties involve the handling and processing of solid waste materials from demolition projects and chemical solid waste residues. All assignments involve training to gain knowledge of applicable Standard Operating Procedures, Process Specifications, Radiation Work Procedures, and Criticality Specifications.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Moves material and product in the work area by proper handling method.

  • Keeps work area and equipment clean and orderly.

  • May assist with minor equipment maintenance, repair and inspection, following detailed procedures, and report defects to supervision.

  • During lull periods of production, may be required to work in other cost centers.

  • Properly handles hazardous materials.

  • Performs job duties in a safe manner.

  • All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position. *

    • Manufacturing Tech I I*- High School diploma or GED and 2 to 5 years of experience.
  • Carry out written and oral instructions

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Possess good leadership skills to be responsive to needs of customers, to direct the work of the work crew and to train crew members in their duties as experience and knowledge are gained

  • Capable of sensing various chemicals in the air by smell and sight

  • Conduct simple math calculations

  • Possess basic computer skills

  • Must be able to life 50 pounds, bend, stoop and remain in standing position for extended periods of time on a rotating shift schedule

  • Must be able to work in a respirator

  • Ability to work rotating shifts

  • Must be willing to work around chemicals

  • The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position. *

  • Manufacturing experience, preferably at Framatome's Horn Rapids Road facility

  • Experience with Radioactive Waste and Hazardous Waste

  • Experience with database operations (e.g. NIMS database, Waste Database, or other databases)

  • Forklift qualified or previous forklift experience

  • TRAVEL *

Generally not required to travel, but could be asked to travel for training purposes.
