Become a Transmission Civil Inspection Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be in the Technical Support division of Construction and Technical Support within SCE’s Transmission and Distribution Operating Unit. You will be responsible for meeting all Transmission Civil construction operating dates and will provide coordination and support between planners, management, and Transmission Civil contract crews. A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • May act as a lead on projects, providing work direction, scheduling, and technical guidance for quality related activities supporting the safety, compliance, and reliability of Transmission operations.

  • Inspect Transmission civil construction.

  • Complete required documentation for inspections.

  • Ensure and coordinate SCE compliance with contractors on job sites (footing protections, underground construction, slope stabilization, etc).

  • Work closely with the Project Manager to ensure all scope is completed.

  • Review approved plans, permitting, and environmental requirements.

  • Perform visual site and source inspections of Transmission Civil and/or Transmission Telecom construction to ensure compliance with federal, state, and Company rules and regulations.

  • Review “as built” maps; verify all field measurements and accounts for deviations from specifications.

  • Document discrepancies and non-conformance.

  • Conduct meetings related to Transmission Civil construction, attend tail board meetings and preconstruction meetings.

  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions, safety deficiencies, violations, and unsafe work practices. Provides recommendations for corrective action.


The essentials

  • Five or more years of experience with underground construction or civil construction.

  • Valid CA Driver’s License.

The preferred

  • Experience with Transmission footing installation, trenching and conduit installation.

  • Experience with construction plans, environmental and permit requirements.

  • Experience applying time management skills to planning and prioritizing a heavy workload.

  • Experience with safe work practices, basic electrical theory, construction/maintenance standards (i.e., GO95 and GO128), and the Transmission/Transmission Telecom system.

  • Evaluating the efficiency of projects, including monitoring progress, reallocating resources, reporting on status, and implementing changes as needed.

  • Performing inspections, including providing technical support, identifying compliance issues, and providing corrective recommendations.

  • Coordinating activities between the Company and contractors, including assigning work, monitoring projects, and reviewing field dailies for accuracy.

  • Preparing and delivering reports to subordinates, peers, and/or management.

  • Presenting technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Position will require up to 95% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
