In this job, you’ll reside in the Eastern Operations division within SCE’s Generation department. This position will report to the Senior Manager within the Los Angeles Basin Production group. You will lead a group of over thirty operators (represented employees) responsible for the daily operation of SCE’s fleet of power plants in the LA Basin.

Responsible for the overall coordination of Operations activities across the LA Basin.
Ensures staff are adequately trained and supported by:
Developing and implementing Operations training program, ensuring staff remains trained on current technology.
Responsible for employee performance; recognizing successes, identifying areas for improvement, and providing ongoing coaching; providing grievance support.
Ensure Power Plants remain compliant with regulatory agencies (CPUC, CEC, CAISO, SCAQMD, OSHA, CUPA, FERC, NERC, NFPA, etc.)
Manages CPUC and CEC data requests in collaboration with the Production Manager.
Ensures regulatory-required tests are performed on time.
Keeps apprised of communication issues and manages telemetry exemptions.
Works with Supervisor peer-group to execute short and long-term production and strategy goals
Participates in regular leadership meetings.
Supports peers with issues in Maintenance, Work Management and other areas as needed.
Assists Production Manager in developing processes and procedures for the management of LA Basin, responsible for implementation of the process and procedures within the Operations group.
Partner with other departments across the company to ensure all power plants are operating efficiently in the marketplace.
Manages the staffing needs of Operations.
Serves on incident management team.
Ensures adherence to the Company’s code of conduct and other policies. Reports deviations to the Production Manager. Provides discipline as needed.
Four years of experience operating a thermal power plant over 300 MW.
Experience supervising plant operations and/or maintenance employees.
Experience leading represented employees who are responsible for the operation of a large, diverse fleet of generation technologies.
Experience managing and prioritizing the needs of a diverse fleet of power plants to meet the objectives of the local system operator and regulatory agencies (e.g., California Independent System Operator, California Public Utilities Commission, Air Quality Management District).
Exposure to combined and simple cycle natural gas power plants, hydroelectric power plants, battery energy storage systems, and solar power plants.
Experience presenting technical information to a non-technical audience as well as presenting business strategy to field employees.

This position is located in Redlands, however, will require travel to power plants located as far as Oxnard and Yucaipa up to 20% of the time.
This position may also require occasional overnight travel (5%) to Bishop, Catalina Island, and other locations with Generation assets.
This position requires being on call (including holidays), working after hours, and during emergencies.
This position will require one to be able to drive, fly, traverse on uneven surfaces (hiking), sit/stand and work in various weather conditions, for extended periods of time.
This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
