CLOSING DATE: This position will close on June 27, 2018.

LOCATION: Rapid City, SD

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Work and study the apprentice training courses for the duration of the apprenticeship program. Shall complete all study requirements, and pass all the examinations as required by the FJAC apprentice committee. All duties will be performed under the guidelines of the FJAC.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Measurement Services Supervisor

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Sample testing of electric meters under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Meter Mechanic or Lead Meter Mechanic.

  • Change out CT, and self-contained meters under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Meter Mechanic or Lead Meter Mechanic.

  • Field test transformer-rated meters under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Meter Mechanic or Lead Meter Mechanic.

  • Conduct meter accuracy verification under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Meter Mechanic or Lead Meter Mechanic.

  • Perform CT and self-contained meter testing under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Meter Mechanic or Lead Meter Mechanic.

  • Perform meter exchanges under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Meter Mechanic or Lead Meter Mechanic.

  • Troubleshoot problems relating to load survey meters and solid-state recorders under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Meter Mechanic or Lead Meter Mechanic.

  • Assist with meter inventory under the direct supervision of a Meter Mechanic or Lead Meter Mechanic.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow established work processes and procedures.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Work with Journeymen and Lead Journeymen.

  • Work with Meter Services Supervisor.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Basic electric understanding.

  • Some utility experience.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

CERTIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS:

  • Ability to attain and hold a valid South Dakota Class “C” Driver’s license.

  • Study apprentice course and pass test according to FJAC apprenticeship standards.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • May include some travel.
