Pike Corporation Senior Operations Support Specialist in Raleigh, North Carolina


The Senior Operations Support Specialist provides leadership of operational support functions for the regional engineering organization within UCS. In addition to being able to perform the duties of the Support Specialist II position, the incumbent must be proficient at using and demonstrate full knowledge of UCS systems involving workflow management, time and expense processing, invoicing, operational reporting and cost management. The incumbent must also have a full understanding of UCS policies and procedures handbook and possess the skills necessary to provide training and mentorship for employees in the Operations Support Specialist I & II roles as well as Project Analyst roles. The incumbent may also assist with client relations, proposal development, project administration, and facility support for the regional engineering organization. The incumbent will typically have a lead responsibility for ensuring day to day office operations are organized and functional. This position description is intended to replace the Office Administrator position.


With limited supervision, the incumbent will:

•Review time and expense entry documentation and reports for accuracy and completeness and provide analysis of trends regarding hours, mileage, expenses, productive vs non-productive time to management. Performs the role of local administrator of T&E entry system.

•Create spreadsheets, charts, graphs, etc analyzing operational performance of assigned projects, work groups or service lines as directed by management. •Provide lead support for work management, T&E, invoicing, cost management and other assigned processes for the office or work group

•Lead and maintain the document control and retention process for office or assigned work group

•Provide lead support on local employee relations activities, office functions, client functions, etc

• Coordinate new employee on-boarding process for office or assigned workgroups and maintain all personnel resumes & organizational charts for assigned office or workgroups

•Serve as liaison to UCS Accounting to insure accurate coding of all accounts payable and other cost accounting issues. Lead the Accounts Receivable process for office or assigned workgroup

•Coordination of all items with landlord including invoice review, facility service requests, emergency evacuation plans, etc

•Coordinate with IT on all Helpdesk related items to insure resolution and closure

•Ensures facility is kept to high standards of professionalism with regard to cleanliness & organization

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Influences decisions of moderate nature requiring high degree of tact.


Acts as Team Lead for Operations Support work group within assigned area. Expected to mentor and train employees of less experience and see that their assigned tasks are completed accurately and on-time.

Required High school degree or GED.

Preferred Associates degree (AA or equivalent from two-year college or technical school).

Preferred A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or University in Business Administration or experience equivalent to 5-7 years in a senior administrative or support role. Experience 5-7 Year(s) Experience in operational support or similar role demonstrating team lead capabilities.


ON-THE-JOB TRAINING:Employees new to the position will be required to gain full working knowledge of the systems and processes used in the full performance of the job which may include attending seminars, OJT with other incumbents to the role or corporate workshops.


A.Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, operational procedures, etc.

B.Ability to write reports, Business correspondence, and procedure manuals. C.Ability to effectively present information in one-on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


1.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret spread sheets.
