ElectriCities of North Carolina Financial Analyst in Raleigh, North Carolina
The Finance Division has the responsibility for the fiscal integrity of the North Carolina Municipal Power Agencies (Agencies) and ElectriCities of North Carolina, Inc. (ElectriCities).
The Financial Analyst will:
Develops a solid working knowledge of the agencies, their projects, and their financial structure as well as the financial structure of the participating municipalities.
Supports the Vice President, Finance in conducting financial analyses. Understands the overall goal of the analysis being conducted and understands the components necessary to conduct the analysis. Participates as a member of the Eastern/Agency 1 Working Capital teams and provides supporting analyses of actual and projected revenue and costs for review in ensuring that monthly revenues are adequate to maintain Board-approved working capital levels. Works with and provides support to the Finance Division.
Actively fosters an environment of cooperation and teamwork to effectively work with other departments/divisions and fellow employees.
Working with the Vice President, Finance, assists other departments with the development of the ElectriCities annual business plan, annual budget and quarterly budget projections while ensuring that all contractual, legal, and statutory obligations and covenants within the framework of the annual business planning and budgeting process are met.
Assists with the development and distribution of monthly variance files to Sr. Management and other budget users so that they can track their spending compared to the budget.
Assists with the preparation and distribution of the ElectriCities Dues billings and projections.
Assists with the preparation and distribution of Participant power cost projections.
Assists with the preparation and review of the Annual Engineering report.
Coordinates and maintains financial planning and modeling systems to provide and assist the Vice President, Finance, and as needed the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), in studying and analyzing financial impact of various strategic initiatives of the organizations.
Prepares monthly update reports on projected financial results of operations for the entities and the effects on working capital and will work closely with Power Agencies’ engineering consultants in reviewing cost and revenue projections for rate design efforts.
Assists in the development of measures to track the strategic elements and goals of ElectriCities and assists with tracking those measures to ensure goals can be achieved.
Assists with the coordination of Operations and Treasury staff and outside consultants to develop and maintain 20+ year financial models of the Power Agencies. The output of the models will be used as a basis for planning and making strategic decisions needed to preserve the financial stability of the Power Agencies.
Provides support during times of heavy workloads and staff vacancies/absences. Assistance with analytical projects in each area will be coordinated through the Vice President, Finance.
Maintains certain statistical and financial data of the participants from their audited financials and other sources as well as information on the Agencies for inclusion in the official statements, for dissemination to the investing community and for continuing disclosure purposes.
Assists in the development of presentations and provides sufficient support material to gain necessary Board approvals for the budgets for the three entities, providing input, analysis, and reporting functions as needed, and attends Board meetings to gain an understanding of various processes and procedures, gain exposure to the Board members and respond to questions.
Assists in developing presentation material for rating agency meetings, meetings with investors, and other stakeholder meeting.
Works as needed with the CFO, Senior Treasury Specialist, and Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting in conducting needed financial analysis in their respective areas.
Provides assistance to the Vice President, Finance of ElectriCities and the respective agencies as required.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting, with an MBA degree or CPA license highly preferred.
Four years + of related experience in various financial analyses.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to learn and manage various projects quickly.
Demonstrated proficiency in using spreadsheets and computerized financial systems.
The ability to work independently with general instructions and minimum supervision.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills and the ability to work with various internal and external audiences.
