Job Summary

Dominion Energy North Carolina, is a regulated public utility engaged primarily in transporting, distributing and selling natural gas to approximately 630,000 customers throughout a 28-county service area in the north central, piedmont and western areas of North Carolina. This LNG Intern position in Cary, NC is a diverse position within the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Operations Department. The Department is responsible for the operations and maintenance of liquefaction, vaporization, holding, and storage equipment and other tasks necessary to provide reliable, affordable, clean energy to its customers.

The LNG Intern will learn about LNG utility engineering and operations by working with areas within the department and outside of the Department including: Operations and Maintenance, Corporate Warehouse, Corporate Safety, and other areas that support LNG Operations. The experience for the LNG Intern will consist of one or more summers starting at the end of the spring semester and ending at the start of the fall semester (2022). Part time work may be available during school semester.

The LNG Intern will reside in the DENC Energy Center and will assist Engineers, Operations Managers, and other professionals with various job duties to meet current and future company initiatives and regulatory requirements. Job duties may include but are not limited to: field investigation, proposal creation, cost estimating, permitting, procedure development, critical records organization, research, data analytics, process improvements, and other task consistent with work of an Engineer and Gas Technologist. Additional job functions may include but is not limited to jobsite observations of company crews, support of LNG operations and assisting in safety / process audits.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Proficiency in CADD, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel), and other computer applications

  • Good oral and written communications skills

  • Ability to work independently or within the company’s diverse team environment

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Bilingual (Spanish) candidates.

Education Requirements

  • Qualified candidates must be in the process of obtaining an Associate degree in Engineering Technology (preferably in Civil Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Associate in Engineering, or Mechanical Drafting Technology) from an ABET accredited college or university

  • A minimal GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

  • Graduation date of 2022, 2023, 2024
