National Grid Journeyperson in Queens Village, New York

Job Purpose

Nationalgrid is seeking highly skilled Oil Burner Service Technicians to join our team position requires at least 5+ years experience as Service and install Tech on burner/boiler equipment and associated systems in commercial establishments, multi-family, schools, hospitals etc. Shifts include days, nights, weekends, holidays and paid overtime. Maintenance and repairs on multi-family and commercial boilers. We offer top salaries and a comprehensive benefits package also union membership.

Key Accountabilities

  • Will have supervisory duties to junior mechanics and or helpers.

  • Assess equipment and service needs of customer.

  • Identify revenue-generating opportunities, make recommendations to customer and close sales that can be immediately performed.

  • Install equipment as needed.

  • Service heating systems and equipment.

  • Perform efficiency tests on all combustion related installations.

  • Inspects wiring, check connections and power sources, and logs repaid needs.

  • Prepare accurate daily paperwork.

  • Basic pump repair knowledge and skills, including but not limited to circulating pumps and oil pumps.

  • General knowledge of domestic water systems including but not limited to instantaneous

  • not water heaters, tank water heaters, booster pumps systems, and domestic mixing valves, electrical and pneumatic.

  • Communicate with dispatcher and service departments.

  • Utilize all applicable safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Exhibit courteous and helpful behavior towards customer and third parties

  • Effectively communicate orally, in writing and electronically.

  • Maintains proficiency at current level and continually updates knowledge through appropriate courses, seminars, publications and contacts in the trade.

  • Maintains a functional awareness of the typical hazards of the work place.

  • Follows established procedures for dealing with such hazards.

  • Organizes and maintains all MSDS compliance data.

  • Basic knowledge of building codes rules and regulations as well as the ability to understand corporate policy and procedure as related to the position.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervision

Qualifications

  • NYC Low Pressure Certificate

  • OSHA 30

  • Valid Driver License

  • A minimum of 5 years experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Physical demands and working conditions

  • Shift Work; Monday to Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM
