The Sr. Investment Analyst is responsible for supporting the modeling, evaluation, and analysis for Avangrid Renewable’s development pipeline, projects in construction, operating fleet, and transactions involving the acquisition or divestiture of operating, construction ready or development stage projects within a defined geographic area. In addition, the Sr. Investment Analyst willbe responsible for leading the modeling and valuation of battery energy storage system (BESS) opportunities for the Avangrid Renewables pipeline. The Sr. Investment Analyst is a member of the Investment Office, a group that is primarily accountable for evaluating all renewable origination and asset development transactions to ensure accurate pricing and valuation. It serves as both a challenger and partner to the business with respect to transaction pricing and review. The team must build and maintain strong relationships with local business partners (e.g. Development, Asset Management) and corporate support functions (e.g. Control, Finance) as well as international counterparts


  • Modeling the value, pricing and risk of development projects, development pipeline, asset acquisition and divestment opportunities, operating portfolio, and battery energy storage systems (BESS)

  • Facilitating the approval process for projects, ensuring management decisions are based on the best information available and with appropriate consideration of risks and opportunities

  • Providing independent challenge to business opportunities from a project, portfolio, and global perspective

  • Facilitate the company's deal evaluation and approval process (DEVA)

  • Providing the modeling of asset performance for the evaluation of project and tax equity financing opportunities in conjunction with Finance and Control

  • Supporting different business areas projects for internal and external related analyses

  • Performing market and competitor analysis

This position will report to the Investment Manager - West within the Investment Office, part of the Planning & Analysis department.

Skills and Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience in the utility/energy industry with more than 3 years in business and financial analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience valuing and modeling battery energy storage systems (BESS).

  • Demonstrated business, financial analysis skills, and substantial experience with DCF and alternate valuation methods. Knowledge of and proven experience modeling partnerships, tax equity financing, project finance, structured finance and M&A transactions is a plus.

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the business.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong presentation skills combined with written and verbal communication skills are a must.

  • Microsoft Office advanced user (Excel, Power Point, Word)

  • English language proficiency, both written and verbal. Spanish language skills are a plus.
