Principal/Senior Strategy Integrator

Looking for the next step in your career? We have a high impact role working with senior leaders on corporate strategy. In this role you will develop, prioritize and deliver strategic initiatives for delivering clean energy solutions to customers. You will use your skills in data analytics, financial acumen, influence and delivering high-impact presentations to drive to results.

Our ideal candidate has a degree in business, statistics, economics or a related field or equivalent experience plus 8 years (depending on level) of experience in analysis and strategic planning. We also need experience driving results, actively listening, applying constructive feedback and working collaboratively with all types of people. Experience in the energy industry a plus. Who we are: The Strategy Integration group facilitates both corporate strategy and business development in partnership with specific business areas.

In this highly visible role, you will have the opportunity to develop long-range plans for the company by partnering with senior leaders including the identification, evaluation, prioritization, and delivery of strategic initiatives that deliver innovative and clean energy solutions to customers. Typical projects span both traditional strategy and business model development and may include leading the initial stages of project execution. You will research trends, assimilate data, create visualizations, and develop insights and recommendations for corporate strategy, owning the delivery to senior leadership. An ideal candidate should have the ability to identify and define business questions and issues and develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analysis and design implementation plans. The candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and significant influence skills both with team members and senior leadership.

Strategic Analysis and Planning:

  • Takes a leadership role, with others in the department, in the strategic plan development effort.

  • Makes recommendations about adapting the strategy and business model in response to changes in the business environment, advancing the interests of the company internally and externally

  • Collaborates with officers and senior leaders to communicate strategic progress through reports, dashboards, presentations, and workshops

  • Contributes to enterprise-wide metrics, ensuring they align to strategic objectives around PGE’s customer value proposition.

  • Provides data-driven insights to inform overall company strategy and approach to key strategic initiatives in alignment with business outcomes

  • Develops reports, including graphics and visuals.

  • Collaborates with business units to consult on execution of strategy.

  • Responsible for defining and developing tools, models, and frameworks for conducting research and analysis, works with internal and external sources to collect relevant data, coordinates and executes required analysis, and develops appropriate communication to senior management

  • Uses scenarios, corporate signposts, models, and simulations to support strategy and integration

Project Management and Consultation:

  • Develops and implements project plans: defining scope of work, budget, deliverables, acceptance criteria, and success metrics.

  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders, assigns work tasks, reviews work of project team members and provides feedback.

  • Monitors progress and ensures deliverables meet acceptance criteria and success metrics

  • Prioritizes and adapts plan in response to changing environment

  • Identifies risks and implements mitigation steps

The above listed expectations pertain to the Principal (P4) level. At the Senior (P3) level, the expectations are as a contributor to the work vs leading the work. Also at the senior level, work may be less complex than at the principal level.

Education: A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering or related financial or scientific discipline OR equivalent experience at the principal level would provide necessary qualifications for this position.

Experience: Typically 8 or more years in utility or similar energy sector experience in the area(s) of demand side management, transportation electrification, resource planning, strategy, engineering, power operations, economic forecasting, accounting, finance or regulatory affairs or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience also qualify. At the Senior level, typically 5 or more years of experience.

  • Affinity for business reporting, analysis, forecasting and working with uncertainty

  • Advanced communication (written / oral) and presentation skills

  • Advanced knowledge of analytical techniques, scenario planning, and corporate goal-setting theory and practices

  • Advanced knowledge of dashboarding, visualization, modeling and forecasting tools

  • Expert project management skills

  • Business acumen

  • Decision-making skills

  • Knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to electric utilities
