Principal Enterprise Risk Advisor
Note: This role is located in Portland, Oregon. The work will be a hybrid model with some days working from home and some days in the office for in person collaboration opportunities.
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) roles is evolving and expanding. ERM plays an especially important role in the rapidly changing electric industry in general, and in PGE as an industry lead in particular. The ERM Principal Advisor plays a significant role helping the company to identify and manage risks and opportunities that are ahead of PGE in this dynamic and changing environment. The role of ERM is also expanding to assist internal clients to better assess and analyze operational risk and further integrate risk in corporate’s strategy, goals, and financial planning activities and decision-making processes. This role will work as an internal risk consultant and expert to business units. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, strategic problem solving, client skills, and business acumen.
This position will play a significant role in establishing, shaping, and enhancing the ERM program and risk culture. The successful candidate will help the company to assess and analyze a wide range of risks utilizing structured and systematic risk management framework through regular interactions with subject matter experts and senior leaders throughout the company.
This position would work as a primary senior consultant and technical expert to the BUs, managers, and executive to help with analyzing enterprise and operational risks, in addition to risk assessment of projects and initiatives prior to taking those to one of the decision-making forums.

In addition, this role will be responsible for leading assignments with a broad scope and complexity in a cross functional team environment, and on many occasions will be presenting results alongside of the executives to a larger group of decision makers. This will give you visibility and interaction with people across the company.
The ideal candidate is a risk subject matter expert with recognized experience in conducting enterprise, operational, and strategic risk management. In addition, strong project management, analytical, and client skills and excellent business judgment.
ERM Framework Enhancement: Support development and implementation of a more robust process for identifying, assessing, and mitigation of risks throughout the company
Enterprise Risks: Conducting risk assessments, coordinating, and consulting with all business units identifying risks not already being tracked (emerging or changing risks), evaluating the likelihood and potential impact of each risk, identifying, and assessing mitigations, and tracking and monitoring risks and mitigation plans
Risk Evaluation: Utilize advanced risk analysis tools such as Fault Tree Analysis, Probabilistic Risk Assessments, Failure Modes, and Monte Carlo Simulations to evaluate risk. Enable standardization of these tools across the company.
Operational/Asset Risk: Leading the work with internal and external subject matter experts to establish best methodologies in assessing wide range of risks across the company. This will require in-depth understanding of risk assessment techniques, statistical/probabilistic modeling, operations, asset management, and physical and financial loss control.
Root Cause Analysis: Supporting root cause analysis efforts to ensure that whenever possible, the underlying cause of any significant loss is understood. This also includes disseminating the results of the analysis to all areas of the company where this information could be used to reduce risk in the future
ERM Governance: Developing and implementing policies, procedures and systems required for maintaining and enhancing the overall ERM mission
You are someone with:
Education Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience Typically eight or more years quantitative analysis, risk management, loss prevention, technology implementation, business planning, strategic planning, or utility operations, or related field
