  • Coordinate activities with other internal personnel and/or organizations to ensure compliance and appropriate follow-through of policies, procedures, rules, rates, and completion dates applicable to his/her assigned project.

  • Maintain a current understanding of industry practices and standards.

  • Read and understand construction drawings and engineering specifications to develop Construction Plans, Agendas, resource requirements, and cost estimates for construction projects within substations.

  • Participate and support in resource planning, management status reporting, and pre-engineering meetings.

  • Provide coordination and planning of major projects with other departments and/or outside organizations in order to establish and meet scheduled operating dates.

  • Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate pre-construction, contractor bid walk, and internal construction meetings.

  • Create outage/move programs, releases material & equipment, and compiles construction site representative/maintenance information resource packages.

  • Identify environmental requirements and coordinates required project components with other departments, customers, governmental bodies, and various external sources.

  • Develop estimates and/or prepares construction plans for construction projects.

  • Maintain a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as require.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Five or more years of experience working in a project management and/or project support role in construction.

  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.

The preferred

  • Three or more years of experience in electrical substation construction.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or related field, or an equivalent amount of education, training, and experience.

  • Substation experience with contract management, construction methods, and/or techniques.

  • Three or more years of experience reading drawings to determine power flow and identify substation equipment.

  • Experience with construction drawings and engineering specifications to develop Construction Plans, Agendas, resource requirements, and cost estimates for substation construction projects.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and be customer focused, to appropriately identify and respond to customers, peers, management, and external stakeholders and facilitate the presentation of ideas, concepts, and technical data.

  • Experience managing several projects concurrently, adjusting to shifting priorities, and meeting deadlines.

  • Experience with engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.

  • Experience and proficiency with software applications such as MS Outlook (or similar calendaring application), MSWord, MS Excel, SAP, and Internet.

  • Position will require 30% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
