About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position Overview

The Senior Advisor will be a part of the Grid Modernization Strategy Integration team. This team is responsible for the overall Grid Modernization strategy and program management. This team will lead and support the continued evolution of modernizing the grid through the following:

  • Monitor program critical demonstrations, pilots, and deployments for both IT and T&D technologies

  • QC status reporting to highlight risks and issues

  • Serve as constructive critic for new asset and technology maturity plans

  • Integrate new tech capabilities or delays with roadmaps

  • Monitors and reports on program scope, schedule, and budget performance

  • Understand, document, mitigate, and/or appropriately assign ownership of risks and dependencies both within and external to the program

Responsibilities may include:

  • Synthesizes company strategic goals, grid technology maturity, and new/future grid technology capabilities to make informed program decisions

  • Maintains/provides expert analyses and input to continuously improve Grid Modernization vision and roadmap

  • Develop/maintainintegrated work breakdownstructure and schedule​

  • Identify & track risks/issues& assess impacts​

  • Monitoring/reporting ofProgram status andperformance metrics​

  • Drive standardization ofproject scheduling acrossprogram​

  • Develop/maintain quarterlyresource utilizationreporting​

  • Maintain, enhance andsecure SharePoint​

  • Support Release Planning​

  • Lead document governanceand dataprotection/handlinginitiatives​

  • Provide support for all SCEaudit initiatives​

  • Liaison for IT compliancerelated initiatives​

  • Maintainchangemanagement processoutcomes​

  • Maintain Program decisionsand action items​ logs

  • Provides guidance to staff Advisor and Sr Specialist to provide comprehensive administrative support forGrid Mod Program (scheduling,distribution lists, meetingagendas,QA/publication ofmeeting materials,notes)​

  • Develop and communicate program levelreporting​

  • Coordinate IT GRC activities​

  • Lead SCE audit initiatives​

  • Coordinate risk process andstatus​

  • Support IT WorkstreamProject Managers​

  • Facilitate governanceforums​

  • Develop and maintainprogram financial reporting​

  • Develop and maintaincomprehensive financialrecords for program​

  • Coordinate regular workstream financialforecast/varianceprocess/review​

  • Conduct variance and trendanalysis​

  • Support annual fundingrequests (capital/O&M)​

  • Support IT and T&D GRCactivities/data requests​

  • Support FRM requests


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Computer Science, or other related disciplines

  • 10 years of experience related to project, program, and/or organizational management or directing key business initiatives.

  • Experience insupporting GRC activity (e.g. testimony development, strategy and data request)

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, and must be customer focused to understand and appropriately respond to clients’ business needs.

  • Demonstrated experience prioritizing activities, delegating, monitoring assignments, and holding team members accountable for results.

  • Demonstrated experience interfacing effectively and collaborating with internal employees, third party entities, and all levels of management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • Must demonstrate effective, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

  • Must demonstrate strong ethics, interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

  • Graduate Degree in Business, Leadership, or relevant technical discipline.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated experience working with end-users to develop business, functional, and technical requirements.

  • Knowledge of evolving IT technologies that are critical to Transmission and Distribution operations.

  • Knowledge of Transmission and Distribution operations, business processes, and systems programs.

  • Knowledge and experience with utility business processes and operations.


  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • Position will require 15% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
