About T&D:

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position overview:

T&D Business Planning, a group within the Asset Management & Operations Support (AM&OS) organization, integrates critical functions that enable SCE to effectively prioritize and plan work. TheModeling, Forecasting, & Economics AnalysisAdvisor implements the risk-informed planning process, manages development of T&D Operating Plans, supports the General Rate Case (GRC) and Risk Assessment Mitigation Phase (RAMP), and facilitates drafting the T&D Strategic Plan.

The successful candidate will lead cross-functional project teams to complete complex risk assessments and conduct financial analysis. She or he will actively engage stakeholders throughout the T&D organization to complete deliverables and represent T&D Business Planning in presenting recommendations for risk-informed decision making to various levels of management.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain models for operating plans to capture five year forecasting estimates and related assumptions for capital programs and O&M activities. Complete operating plans by coordinating with budget owners and Finance partners.

  • Support risk-informed planning by managing work streams to quantify risk and mitigation values using the Prioritized Risk Informed Strategic Management (PRISM) framework that accounts for safety, reliability, regulatory, financial, and environmental considerations.

  • Support content development for regulatory filings and data requests as needed in the GRC and RAMP process.

  • Support goal development and communication processes for T&D as needed in the Strategic Planning process.

  • Provide ad-hoc support, such as onboarding of new hires in T&D Business Planning and developing all-hands presentation materials.


Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, science, business, or related field

  • Seven or more years of experience in quantitative analysis and/or project management

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel or Python or VBA

Desired qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering, science, business, or related field

  • Demonstrated experience with advanced statistical modeling

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

  • Intermediate experience with R and/or SAS

  • Knowledge of electric utility power systems and/or industry

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate work across relevant areas, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills
