About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position Overview

The Integrated Work Planning (IWP) group within T&D Work Management (AM&OS) is the organization responsible for coordinating the initiation of capital projects within T&D and enterprise project sponsors and resource groups. The Integrated Work Planning Specialist will focus on ensuring daily activities related to updating Project Scope, Cost Estimates, and Expenditure Plan (Forecasting) for T&D capital projects (both planned and in-flight). The successful candidate will interface with project stakeholders, regardless of organization unit alignment to ensure that all of their IWP needs are being met, will provide specialized analytical support, and assist in developing strategies for enhanced use of IWP data. This position will actively engage and ensure alignment with the integration of IWP, SMT, and SCMT to the user community and T&D management. Typical Responsibilities :

  • Utilizing IWP specific systems (IWP 2.0/3.0, SMT, SCMT) to analyze and resolve issues relating to the initiation and updating of Transmission, Substation, and Distribution capital projects.

  • Recommend, document and implement necessary modifications to T&D specific systems and processes - IWP 2.0 & 3.0, SMT, and SCMT.

  • Support Senior Project Managers and the IWP team with data analysis and report generation (SAS Analytics).

  • Assist in the EPEF, Change Control, and PMWIF process.

  • Interaction with cross-functional organizations and various project stakeholders while representing IWP.

  • Ensure projects being loaded into IWP and SCMT have the required information (project templates, roles/tasks, contingency, escalation rates, project life cycle durations, etc.)

  • Assist and communicate with project groups as to what is needed to effectively utilize IWP.

  • Be a point of contact for the IWP processes to ensure efficiency throughout the IPSEC model.

  • Tier 1 support to evaluate, recommend, and communicate any tool software changes.

  • Utilize strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, and good oral and written communication.

  • Create and maintain a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Work Management leaders.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree – in Business, Engineering, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferred.

  • Two or more years of experience working in Analyst role conducting data and process analysis.

  • One of more years of experience and understanding of SCE Substation, Distribution, or Transmission Capital Projects.

  • Two or more years of experience with Microsoft Excel performing advanced functions such asVLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, filtering/sorting, charts and graphing.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.

  • Practical knowledge and experience with Integrated Work Planning (IWP) data and processes.

  • Two or more years of experience performing detailed analysis, querying, investigating and resolving problems, drawing conclusions from complex data and information, and presenting results to management and key stakeholders.

  • Basic understanding of General Rate Case (GRC) development.

  • Two or more years of experience using spreadsheet and presentation software tools to report out data trends and analysis.

  • Basic understanding of annual Operating Plan and Refresh development.

  • Basic understanding of project management fundamentals.

  • SAS Analytics experience.

  • Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, identify risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • Experience working on Cross Functional teams within T&D is a plus.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

  • Basic understanding of risk-informed decision making.

  • Experience with resource and project planning, managing projects effectively, results delivery and team building.

  • Demonstrated experience with data base management and SAP Financial applications.
