About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 15 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position Overview

Come join a dynamic and high performing team whose primary goal is to streamline the documentation of asset mapping sources (SAP, Circuit Map, cGIS) for SCE. The maintenance of these asset mapping sources plays a key role in the accuracy of SCE’s asset data and overall safety and reliability of our grid. This new team within was recently crafted with the mission to develop business strategies, recommend process improvements, and conduct tabular and geographic analysis which would improve the overall strength of SCE’s electric connectivity asset records.

Typical Responsibilities :

  • Perform project management functions such as investigating and resolving problems, coordinating and communicating key project decisions and deliverables.

  • Utilize geographic components from data in an effort to provide recommendations for overall process improvement.

  • Conduct data analysis to identify and recommend areas of success and process improvement.

  • Deliver presentations to both non-technical and technical audiences.

  • Administer asset documentation tracking databases for accurate reporting metrics for the department (access and workflow manager).

  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience working in the Engineering or Technology field creating and analyzing Engineering Drawings, Maps, or Mapping Reference Materials.

  • Experience working with multiple Databases, conducting research, complex analysis, and providing recommendations to support Geospatial and Attribute Data Integrity.

  • One or more years of experience with working with Geographical Information Systems (GIS).

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Proficient with MS Access.

  • Experience with SAP.

  • Knowledge of AutoCad.

  • Two or more years of experience with Microsoft Excel performing advanced functions such as VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, filtering/sorting, charts and graphing.

  • Experience reading and interpreting any of the following source materials: Facility Inventory Maps (FIM), Work Order Maps, Circuit Maps, cGIS Maps.

  • Experience coordinating Process Flow Improvements, including identification, proposition, and implementation of improvements.

  • Two or more years of experience performing project management functions such as investigating and resolving problems, coordinating and communicating key project decisions and deliverables.

  • Leadership experience with the ability to work independently and perform responsibilities as assigned.


  • Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
