POSITION – Union: Senior Technical Support Specialist - Engineering (19696) Pittsfield, MA

Responsibilities

Use full range of administrative and technical knowledge and experience to assist and support management in meeting the objectives and responsibilities of the Berkshire Engineering/Construction Department. Adhere to Company standards and State and Federal codes. Update, maintain and ensure accuracy of computerized records and other data. Develop presentations and produce documents containing complex technical terminology. Maintain confidentiality of all written documents and sensitive discussions.

  • Work under the daily supervision of Company Engineers to facilitate construction activities. Applies knowledge/analytical skills to develop a range of complex activities and responds to inquiries from others; solve complex problems including new or unusual assignments. Complete work assignments independently or within minimal supervision/guidance; acts as a resource for colleagues and may coordinate activities for others.

  • Provides support to Gas Operations, Engineering, Construction, Marketing and other departmental activity by preparing reports, filings, policies and procedures and creating correspondences along with documenting these notifications to customers and in the database. Performs certain administrative duties for various departments as assigned, including interacting with both Union and Non-Union employees.

  • Creates and or manages departmental reporting requirements by preparing data and compiling monthly statistics for submission to the senior management team.

  • Manages own time to meet objectives. Fully shares responsibility for ensuring success of team efforts meeting or exceeding company goals.

  • Provide on-call winter coverage, for the operation of the company’s LNG plant via remote operations in the dispatch center.

Skills and Requirements

Working knowledge of personal computers including operation of office products (e.g., Microsoft Office) is required. Drafting and AutoCAD experience is required. Experience with database applications is required; some advanced software applications.1 to 2 years of SAP experience is preferred.

Must be able to effectively communicate (written and oral) with all levels of management and non-management employees and to interact professionally with co-workers, other Divisions, and organizations outside of Berkshire Gas, including BGC customers. Possess the ability to effectively and accurately organize large quantities of critical and confidential information that affect multiple constituencies. Applicant must demonstrate the ability to utilize analysis and presentation tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, along with interpersonal skills and work as a team member.

Education/Experience:

Bachelors - 2 years

Associates - 5 years

High School Diploma - 8 years
