The primary function of the Electrical Engineering group, which is within the Framatome Nuclear Products department, consists of performing commercial grade dedication, equipment qualification, reverse engineering and developing & maintaining supplier relationships associated with electrical components, equipment, and systems.
Candidates selected for this opportunity will have the option of requesting, subject to availability and business needs, which time frame to complete their co-op. A final determination of the time frame will made at point of offer.
Perform standard engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks and resolution of field problems.
Receives assistance and instructions on unusual or more complex features and possible solutions, as
Ensures compliance with government, organization and customer engineering standards.
May independently evaluate, select and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
Works on special projects, as directed.
Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.
Understanding and interpretation of applicable IEEE and ANSI standards
Electrical Products applications including but not limited to circuit breakers, relays, starters, contactors, transformers, motors, generators, and drives.
Development of understanding and interpretation of the Commercial Grade Item
Development of understanding and interpretation of the Equipment
Qualification process as it applies to the provision of 1E and Safety Related
Electrical Products to Nuclear Industry customers.
Developing technical documentation associated with the procurement, execution, and delivery of electrical parts including breakers, relays, starters, heaters, switches, terminal blocks, fuses, capacitors, and connectors.
Proposal development and project execution of equipment and systems including but not limited to variable frequency drives, low/medium voltage breakers, motors, emergency diesel generators, heat exchangers, chillers, and HVAC equipment.
Work with customers, clients, suppliers, and other Framatome employees to develop solutions to industry issues.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this temporary opportunity.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering program with at least 3 semesters (or equivalent) completed by start of co-op. Graduate students may also be considered. You must be officially enrolled in your school's co-op program to apply
Strong academic performance required
Ability to work from our Cranberry Twp, PA location
Ability to complete co-op during one of four rational periods:
o January through March
o April through June
o July through September
o October through December

Previous Framatome intern/co-op experience
Electrical engineering coursework/experience
Flexibility/availability with regard to time frame for co-op
Demonstrated interest in working in the nuclear industry
Strong background in Microsoft programs
Excellent written/verbal communication skills
Successful completion of courses in Nuclear/Energy
Involvement with industry based organizations (e.g. NA-YGN, American Nuclear Society, etc.)
