Overall Purpose:

Responsible for the development, quality, and delivery of training and compliance material for the Duquesne Light Workforce Development department. Primary responsibilities include supporting the Workforce Development team to update training material for apprenticeships to our current work practices and OSHA compliance requirements, tracking training for various groups and individuals, and identifying training need based upon job code training profiles. Secondary responsibilities will include assisting in a learning management system implementation and developing training and job aides for additional organizations to use the LMS.

Responsibilities:

  • Update existing training material to include new work practices and ensure compliance according to OSHA and EPA regulations.

  • Develop new training material with Workforce Development staff for various apprenticeship programs.

  • Review weekly and monthly training requirements and communicate with various managers and supervisors to ensure their personnel are in compliance.

  • Coordinate new hire trainings according to their specific job function and training profile.

  • Track and schedule compliance with CDL and PADOT driving requirements for Duquesne Light and DQE Communications.

  • Assist in the implementation of a Learning Management System and development of job aides for other departments.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 7+ years’ of relevant experience. Utility industry experience a plus. Certifications often desired.

  • Highly proficient in developing training material.

  • Experience and knowledge of adult learning/training principles, methodologies and tools.

  • Proficient in the use of e-learning tools and software, online platforms, course authoring tools, as well as MS Office.

  • Previous use of learning management systems as well as SharePoint design and development.

  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal. Excellent active listening skills.

  • Willingness and desire to keep abreast of new design and facilitation techniques.

  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and tools.

  • Strong business acumen.

  • Flexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situations, and identify/prioritize actions.

  • Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and tactics. Problem solving and root cause identification skills.

  • Able to work effectively and communicate at all levels in an organization. Must be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through others.

  • Experience working in a utility and/or customer service organization preferred.

Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Adult Education, Instructional Design in a related field.
