Ensure safe work practices and training criteria of personnel maintaining the HPFF cable system and MDACS equipment through on-the-job and class room training.
Plan, schedule, and supervise the daily work activities of Electrical Maintenance and Protection & Controls personnel in the maintenance and repairs of the HPFF pipe type cable system and associated MDACS equipment with established performance measures to optimize productivity.
Oversee special testing, repairs, and equipment replacements while determining acceptability for service of HPFF cable system and MDACS equipment.
Analyze electrical and mechanical failures to determine extent of damage and estimated outage duration and direct repair work to minimize down time.
Assure department is outfitted by procuring procedures, tools, test equipment, parts, vehicle, etc. necessary for daily activities.
Act as Construction Supervisor to oversee construction and contractor activities on the HPFF cable system and MDACS equipment along with other substation projects as needed. Fill in as supervisor in Electrical Maintenance and Protection & Controls during vacations and other absences.
Assure work practices and procedures in the department are in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Supervise and direct work activities for the Substation Mobile Workers.
Evaluate PA One Calls for foreign construction near underground HPFF equipment and direct an appropriate response to ensure its protection.
Education/Experience Required: BSEE degree is preferred or ASEET and BSEET degrees with a minimum of 3+ years of electric utility experience in operations or engineering.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated training and public speaking skills, excellent decision making skills with the ability to work under pressure situations, demonstrated leadership abilities, excellent computer skills; ability to supervise, evaluate, train and motivate employees.
Physical Requirements: Required to drive over entire service territory and must be able to work extended hours and respond to emergency situations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
