Job Responsibilities:

The Business Systems Analyst is the primary liaison between the business customer and IT. The Senior BA I is fully responsible for managing requirements through the life cycle of a project with little to no guidance from others. The Senior BA I elicits analyzes and allocates requirements and contributes to solution design. The Senior BA I relies on competencies such as organization knowledge, business relationship management, written communication, facilitation, and negotiation to ensure project scope and objectives are achieved on projects.

Self-managed and responsible for estimating project work, define business requirements planning & approach, stakeholder assessment, plan, facilitate requirements elicitation workshops/interviews, perform analysis of requirements, manage traceability of requirements through design, development and validation.

Analyzes results of requirements elicitation, observations, process and system reviews and is able to advise on business process and system improvement efforts and contribute to solution designs.

Conducts peer reviews and provides guidance to BA I and II on requirements documentation.

Works with solution designers, systems or functional analyst, or developers to ensure solution meets business requirements. Ensure traceability matrix is completed.

Reviews user acceptance testing results and ensures results are documented in traceability matrix and ensure requirements have been successfully achieved.

Provides status reporting on project milestones Performs other project tasks as assigned by Senior BA II, supervisor or manager

May coordinate the work flow of a given team. May support the review of work and training of other employees.


Roles at this level require Industry specific experience. Roles at this level typically require a university/ college degree. With

3+ years of industry experiences. Certifications are often required.


Primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Typically accountable for managing one’s own time and work

flow. Responsibilities are generally tactical in nature and work is typically of moderate to complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Continues to build knowledge base but has a solid foundation to act independently the majority of the time. Still draws on experts and managers when needed but less frequently.

reasoning and decision making.
