Overall Purpose

This position will coordinate inventory optimization efforts between all departments of Duquesne Light, warehouse locations, and Procurement & Supply Chain staff. Requires a thorough understanding of procurement and warehousing activity, organizational processes as they relate to a transaction, and coordination of daily/monthly ongoing inventory reconciliation. The functional responsibilities of this position span all departments of the utility and will interface with individuals both inside and outside of Duquesne Light.


  • Identify and resolve inventory discrepancies with quantity, receipts, picking, shipping, BOMs, etc. for raw materials

  • Review, recommend, and implement process changes and improvements including preparing written instructions in order to facilitate the implementation of these methods and procedures

  • Conduct Cycle Count inventory processes to ensure accuracy of records and timely execution

  • Responsible for developing and presenting reports in order to communicate the value, aging, movement, and accuracy of inventory

  • Communicate with procurement buyers and material handlers when shortages/inventory impacts are identified

  • Perform all inventory transactions per Supply Chain Management process documents

  • Responsible for the development & reporting of monthly inventory reports as it relates to inventory churns, value, issues, reclaims, and spend for both operations and/or financial review

  • Work with Sr. Manager, P&SC Business Operations to develop and implement policies & guidelines for use in setting and maintaining the correct inventory levels to meet utility operations and financial targets


  • Bachelor’s Degree, supply chain management preferred or equivalent work experience

  • 1- 3 years of professional supply chain experience or equivalent


  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including creating and editing macros and utilizing other advanced functionality

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal relationship skills

  • Strong documentation and organization skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, proven ability to apply these in business environment

  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy quality and speed

  • Ability to prioritize efficiently while multi-tasking, dealing with interruptions and working in a high paced energetic environment

  • Team player who is willing to learn and teach others

  • Ability to follow established processes and schedule to deliver timely and consistent report execution

  • Ability to work independently, check your results, troubleshoot problems and exercise judgment

*Note position may be filled at an associate I - III level depending on experience.


Responsibilities are generally tactical and basic in nature. However work may vary in type and complexity requiring the incumbent to be flexible to adjust to the given situation. Primary focus is on daily deliverables and outputs, while at the same time developing a knowledge of the broader context in which the work is being performed.
