Overall Purpose:

  • With assistance from the Deployment Manager, coordinates and facilitates the delivery of software and modifications for deployment into the applicable software environments.

  • Works with various groups to ensure coordinated effort (Project Management, Development, Technical, Deployment, QA, Testing) for releases, deployments, patching and maintenance work.

  • Analyzes and measures the effectiveness of existing business processes and supports the Deployment team in developing sustainable, repeatable, and quantifiable business process improvements.

  • Creates, tracks, and controls Service Requests, Tasks and Technical Service Requests (TSR).

  • Role typically requires 4 - 6 years of experience in the Release and Deployment space.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Release Manager, Deployment Manager and various project teams in planning and executing each release and deployment.

  • Pre-deployment Activities:

  • Ensure the organization's release controls are documented and well understood.

  • Adhere to release and deployment policy and plans and recommends enhancements as needed.

  • Coordinate the dress rehearsal in preparation of the final production delivery.

  • Coordinate and validate release package design, build and configuration (ensure packages are created, versioning is correct – adheres to naming standards).

  • Review and confirm the final release configuration and ensure utilization of standard tools and templates.

  • Coordinate and ensure release package testing adheres to predefined acceptance criteria.

  • Create deployment planning documentation and schedules and review with deployment participants.

  • Communicate release information and any updates to all impacted parties (spanning many levels of the organization).

  • Deployment Activities:

  • Document a detailed deployment plan that has been reviewed and agreed to by all involved team members. Utilize the standard template and recommend improvements as needed.

  • Ensure a detailed backout plan is created, reviewed, and included in the deployment plan.

  • Maintain the Deployment plan throughout the deployment event to provide accurate status and timings.

  • Coordinate efforts by following the deployment plan and alerting the impacted teams as to their tasks throughout the deployment.

  • Maintain deployment tracking statistics and provide standard reporting (on demand and scheduled (dashboard).

  • Post Release (Early Life Support)

  • Provide feedback on the productivity and success of the release and identify changes to be made moving forward.

  • Record metrics for deployment to ensure within agreed SLAs.

  • Review SLAs and modify as needed after discussion with Release and Deployment Manager.

  • Process Management

  • Support Release and Deployment Manager and team in developing process maps, procedures, methods, and other associated process documentation.

  • Participate in process workshops with cross functional groups to document and develop optimal work processes.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify process gaps, gather associated data, and investigate cause - effect to properly identify improvement opportunities and refine / develop KPI’s.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Roles at this level require a university / college degree. Relevant industry experience to be successful in the given role is typically 4+ years.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail is critical to the role.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience managing deployments (strongly preferred)

  • Experience with orchestrating deployments for Packaged software systems, Cloud (SAAS) systems, On-Prem hosted systems and In-house developed systems. Specialized Skills:

  • Prior experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Development / Deployment (CI/CD) processes and tools, including but not limited to Jenkins and Meridian (EDMS).

  • Prior experience with Azure DevOps/DevSecOps, manual and automated deployments.

  • Prior experience with developing and supporting automated deployments.

  • Prior experience with or knowledge of agile methodologies.

Position is fully remote till our re-entry date of January 10th . After January 10th position is considered variable on-site , meaning this position will primarily work remotely and may be required to report to the office or another location on a regular or occasional basis. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
