Overall purpose:

The corporate communications intern will support both internal and external communication efforts to help share the Duquesne Light story through compelling content that engages our employees and customers. The selected candidate will work across multiple areas of the business and interact with various leaders and subject matter experts.


Applicants must currently be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program concentrating on communication, public relations, writing, English, marketing or business.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Skilled in writing engaging content for various mediums and audiences (internal updates, feature stories, press releases, social media posts, photo captions, web stories, etc.)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Analytics

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment

  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting

  • Capable of working with employees across various disciplines and experience levels

  • Skilled in applying creative thinking to help produce and promote compelling stories

  • Capable of quickly adapting to meet evolving business needs

Physical requirements:

Work will be conducted in a hybrid environment with some time working remotely, and some time required to be in-office/on-site. Candidates must be within close proximity to Pittsburgh.


Applicants must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and social media screen.
