Summary:

With several location opportunities in Louisiana, the Electrical Engineer provides engineering technical support and subject matter expertise to Cleco’s fleet of over 7,000 MW of power generation. This position plays a critical role in developing and managing technical support programs to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of Cleco’s generating assets. This position is the recognized go-to resource within Cleco for providing assistance and guidance in the decision making processes, monitoring and optimization, maintenance practices, and overall strategies for effectively managing large generators, auxiliary transformers, motors, and associated electrical equipment at power plants throughout Cleco’s generating fleet.   • Provide engineering and technical support to Plant Operations and Maintenance for managing Cleco’s fleet of electric generators, power transformers, medium-voltage switchgear, large electric motors, and associated equipment.

  • Develop and/or support consistent fleet wide key asset management programs, standards, and operation and maintenance best practices to optimize safety, performance, reliability, life cycle expectancy, affordability, etc. This includes conformance to all applicable regulations, standards and procedures for arc flash mitigation and protection.

  • Recommend and/or support investment strategy and capital allocation decisions.

  • Apply engineering principles and practices to identify, analyze, diagnose problems, and develop solutions.

  • Identify and implement reliability improvements focused on increased equipment availability and reduced life cycle cost.

  • Provide technical input, technical support, engineering design, and evaluation of facility improvement projects.

  • Develop and/or implement optimization strategies for performance, reliability, commercial, and/or competitive positioning objectives.

  • Collaborate with plant operations and maintenance departments on resolution of issues concerning facilities and equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

Associate level:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical preferred) from an ABET approved curriculum.

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with large electric generators, transformers, medium-voltage power systems, and related electrical equipment, or related power generation experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, organize work and projects, prioritize and meet deadlines, and complete work in an efficient and accurate manner.

Grade: GR012

Mid-level:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical preferred) from an ABET approved curriculum.

  • Three (3) years related experience with large electric generators, transformers, medium-voltage power systems, and related electrical equipment, or related power generation experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, organize work and projects, prioritize and meet deadlines, and complete work in an efficient and accurate manner.

Grade: GR010

Senior level:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical preferred) from an ABET approved curriculum.

  • Five (5) years related experience with large electric generators, transformers, medium-voltage power systems, and related electrical equipment, or related power generation experience.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, organize work and projects, prioritize and meet deadlines, and complete work in an efficient and accurate manner.

Grade: GR008
