Responsible for making our #1 critical success factor, safety first, a priority in all tasks and activities performed by self and all others involved. Responsible for operating machine tools to produce, inspect and assemble fabricated metal parts.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Aptitude for problem-solving.
Must be self-motivated and able to work alone and with other employees, customers, and vendors in a friendly and cooperative manner.
Proficient in reading and implementing electrical & hydraulic schematics and engineering drawings.
Proficient in steel welding & fabrication -certification is a plus. (Candidate may be required to pass certification).
Must be able to inspect, diagnose, repair and perform maintenance as needed on utility construction equipment. Will work with engineers and vendors for technical equipment repair and fabrication tasks.
Maintain work orders, repair logs, and maintenance records.
Be receptive to ongoing education about products and their application and operation.
Perform proper housekeeping throughout the work shift.
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Some travel may be required.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Educational and experience requirements include: High school diploma or General Education Degree. Five years of related vocational training or experience in electrical utility construction equipment (pullers, tensioners, reel trailers, tools). Knowledge of safety practices and procedures. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Proficient in high pressure hydraulic systems and motion control – fluid power certification is a plus. Proficient in welding and fabrication. Basic computer skills are required. CDL Class B preferred, Class A is desirable. Candidate must have basic knowledge of electrical utility construction equipment, hand tools, and safety equipment. Candidate must provide their own hand tools suitable for the position, specialty tools will be provided if needed. Familiar with mechanical design and fabrication.
