Scope of Work – Main Duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

Responsible for managing the development and maintenance of high availability Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems used for the safe, reliable and economic operation of the gas distribution system

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work – range of responsibilities):

  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute the activities related to long and short term SCADA system development as well as day-to-day maintenance.

  • Ensures that all SCADA projects and work are performed and completed safely, on schedule, cost effectively, and in accordance with company standards and state/federal regulations.

  • Facilitate the improvement of team dynamics and communication.

  • Ability to tailor working style to a diverse interdisciplinary team.

  • Effectively communicate, and interact with SCADA stakeholders, including Operations, Gas Control, Engineering, Project Excellence, Gas Supply, as well as maintenance groups.

  • Perform detailed, moderately complex engineering analyses, design and calculations following not only standard methodology and principles but other approaches deemed viable. Develop alternate methods of design concepts toresolve unique problems.

  • Design and test SCADA moves, adds or changes through the development system and perform simulation testing prior to implementation changes into the production SCADA system.

  • Prepare, maintain, and understand drawings (e.g. schematics, one-line and wiring diagrams). Develop and specify equipment, assemble documents and other requirements for moderately complex assignments.

  • Monitor and trouble-shoot SCADA system through verification of data integrity and system performance within the SCADA environment.

  • Assist users in the business units with SCADA related technical requirements and serve as SCADA technical lead as required in support of UI's 10 Year plan.

  • SCADA Systems (Production, Quality Assurance and Test/Developmental) environments.

Education & Experience Required:

  • This position requires: a Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and five years of experience working with high availability computer systems. An Associates Degree with 8 years related IT/SCADA experience may be considered. Ideal applicant should possess a multi-discipline BS degree(s) e.g. BS in Electrical Engineering Technology. BS in Computer Engineering Technology, BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Requires an attention to detail and accuracy; a candidate with a strong customer focus and a positive attitude; and the ability to prioritize a demanding workload. There will be a fast learning curve, and the selected candidate must have the required behaviors and skills to ensure success in this position. Familiarity with finance and regulatory processes and their impact on company projects, objectives and goals.

  • Applicant should be able to demonstrate proficiency of at least three of the following technologies: 1) Electronic Systems as it pertains to proper instrument wiring/grounding and intrinsic safety; 2) Remote Process Control Communications, both in protocols and physical medium (wired and wireless); 3) Operating System Administration as it pertains to deterministic networking and user security; 4) Human Machine Interface Software (HMI) screendesign including API 1165 guidelines; 5) GE-IP Proficy Process System experience. Including Ifix, Ihistorian, Workflow, Proficy Portal; 6) PLC programming with modern IEC 61131 practices; 7)Database Management utilizing SQL for sophisticated report generation from a warehouse schema; 8) Microsoft DotNet functionality with WindowsPresentation Foundation and Services Oriented Architecture.
