About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

About the position

The Overhead Detail Inspection (ODI) Group is expanding to focus on risk-based inspections especially in high fire hazard areas to mitigate the risk of wildfires and to include additional data capture. This supervisor position will oversee field inspectors who perform detailed inspection of overhead distribution equipment, asset evaluation, detailed equipment input and annual patrols. As inspections become significantly more detailed, supervisor responsibilities will grow to include additional data quality overview. This position will provide supervisory support for inspectors who work in multiple districts. This position will work with peer supervisors as needed to coordinate successful completions of T&D goals across the SCE service territory.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Supervising represented Electrical System Inspectors (ESIs).

  • Developing, evaluating, coaching individual ESIs as well as developing the strength of his team.

  • Overseeing the administrative responsibilities for the ODI QA Program, training, field oversight, employee evaluations and the tool and material maintenance for ESIs working in multiple districts.

  • Tracking and supporting inspection progress, adjusting schedules, ad hoc support for T&D project and generating progress reports


Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with T&D Distribution Construction Standards

  • Two year performing or supervising inspection or construction

  • Demonstrated experience working with Union employees.

  • A valid California Driver’s License

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience supervising a construction, inspection or similar workforce.

  • A thorough understanding of General Orders 95, 128 and 165.

  • Demonstrated experience working within or under a Quality Assurance Program

  • Lineman certification or technical construction background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or technical field
