Omaha Public Power District Co-Op - Civil Engineer - Transmission Engineering in Omaha, Nebraska

Location: Energy Plaza, Omaha, NE

Duration: May 2021 – December 2021

Work Schedule: Work days will follow a typical office working environment. Flexible work hours from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm possible, Monday through Friday.

Pay: $21.69

The co-op will be exposed to engineering design, 3-D modeling, finite element analysis, drafting, material procurement, contract preparation, construction, and other aspects of transmission line project execution and project close-out. The individual will gain understanding of line designs including both wood and steel poles, concrete pier and direct embedded foundations, and varying wire types for all District transmission voltages up to 345kV. Specific activities may include preparation of engineering drawings and documents, application of transmission line design software, review of clearance conflicts from survey data, review of land rights conflicts from easement data, preparing miscellaneous reports, witness construction activities and other related duties as assigned by the manager or engineers.

Qualifications

Specific fields of study required: Civil Engineering

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA, 3.0 or higher preferred.

  • Junior status or higher

  • Current full-time student attending and accredited college/university

Technical Ability (i.e. software): Microsoft Office products, AutoCad experience
