Substation Reliability Technician
Supports the safe and operational reliability of substations through the inspection of substation equipment and sites. Responsible for identifying facility conditions that may allow early detection of equipment degradation, damage, or defects within the substation. To make minor repairs, when applicable, or report these conditions to enable the repair or replacement of equipment to maintain the desired reliability of the substation equipment as designed to meet compliance standards and guidelines while ensuring the safety of OGE members and the general public.
Collect equipment information, maintain accurate equipment records, and completes substation inspection form utilizing Cascade software.
Inspect and evaluates and reports all substation equipment for degradation, damage, and defects to identify any unsafe conditions that could potentially affect their proper operation or function.
Maintain the general housekeeping of the substationÃ¢Â€Â™s control house, yard, and fence.
Inspect the overall condition of the substation batteries by checking the battery jar water levels, checking for battery corrosion or deterioration, and obtaining battery voltage readings.
Perform minor maintenance activities, which may include replacing transformer nitrogen cylinder, adding SF6 gas to equipment as necessary, replacing equipment counters, and collecting equipment DGA oil samples.
Perform equipment oil containment drainage, cleanup, and reporting according to the Environmental guidelines and Substation Spill Prevention Plan as necessary.
Perform minor troubleshooting and equipment repairs, replacing LTC oil filters, replacing equipment cabinet heaters, and identifying failed equipment.
Serves as an emergency first responder to substation circuit outages and substation alarms.
Perfrm error-free switching in support of normal system operations, service restoration, system projects, and emergency response.
Substation Maintenance or Relay Journey Level experience.
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Valid State Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work safely and independently with minimal direct supervision.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Basic computer skills to work in Microsoft Office Suite applications, Outlook, and Internet applications with the ability to learn new software applications.
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with team members, leaders, and customers.
Ability to understand and comply with company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and the use of personal protective equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot, diagnosis problems, and effectivity resolve substation equipment issues.
Working knowledge of substations with a mechanical and electrical aptitude desired.
Ability to maintain Switchman Certification.
May be exposed to extreme and inclement weather conditions while performing daily duties.
May be required to work non-standard work schedules and to respond to emergencies including overtime, weekends, holidays, and may take part of an On Call rotation.
Required to maintain permanent residence within a 45 minute driving time to the assigned service center to limit response time for emergency work.
