Description

As a Project Manager you will be in a management position and the primary operations contact. The position will include constant development possibilities and a challenging work environment. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operations by monitoring and managing the project performance, to ensure the project is completed on schedule, safely and within budget. Critical for success are the ability to maintain a professional attitude and demonstrate teamwork and leadership. Strong communications skills are a must.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting with the coordination of the RFQ/RFP process and development the of bidding proposals

  • Complete estimating work and execution plans as necessary. Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow up questions as necessary ensuring all necessary information is captured during bid day

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions

  • Promote safety culture through personal leadership – assist with the implementation of all applicable HSE programs, policies and procedures

  • Under general supervision, develop and/or review the project proposal and execution plans to fully understand the scope of the work and contract to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing the project, including staffing requirements and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project

  • Proactively build and sustain relationships with clients and general sub contracts, both while on the job and through networking outside of work. Ensure we are proactively communicating with the client at all times

  • When necessary, manage relationships with joint venture partners and manage design engineering efforts to ensure cost effective, constructible designs are developed in a timely fashion

  • Identify and manage project risks throughout the project; develop mitigation plans and take actions as required

  • Confer with project management staff to outline work plans and to assign duties and responsibilities to ensure balanced work experience and development opportunities and leveraging strengths of team members

  • Responsible for contract management: initial conversations through final project close out. Additionally once awarded / executed, serve as the single point of contact for customers (internal and external) on contractual matters, ensuring timely review and reconciliation / approval of variations

  • In coordination with field leadership, coordinates activities of the project to actively manage project progress in regards to schedule and within the prescribed budget

  • Reviews and prepares status reports prepared by project personnel and modify/develop schedules and/or plans for management, client, or others as required

  • Confers with project personnel to resolve problems and escalate as appropriate

  • Coordinates project activities with government regulatory or other governmental agencies

  • Other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:

  • 5 years or more of related experience, and/or post-secondary education in Project Management, Construction, Engineering or related discipline

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, to communicate complex information clearly

  • Well-developed technical acumen with identified potential to lead, oversee, advise and make decisions on medium to large multi-disciplined infrastructure and design-build or bid-build construction project

  • Ability to legally travel, drive and work throughout Canada

  • Ability to travel to the US to corporate office for training or meeting as required. Not a regular part of the position.

  • Motivated self-starter that works well independently and in fast paced team environmentsDesired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of construction costs and budgets
