Job Summary

This position is open to current PSEG Employees only

This is a multi-level position with level placement dependent upon the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will work closely with marketers, traders, risk managers, project developers, and quantitative analysts to analyze complex market structures, advise in the development of new high margin products and design viable hedging strategies for portfolio management, perform financial analysis required for project finance, and develop quantitative analysis models required in forecasting, structuring, and capital budgeting. Also, the successful candidate will be expected to analyze embedded option products that are offered to PSEG ER&T and contribute in designing new profitable product structures that ER&T can sell to customers for hedging purposes.

The successful candidate will be expected to directly participate with Regional Marketers on external customer calls in order to understand and address customer needs with transaction structures. The expectation is to value complex market structures such as tolls (physical and financial), load following transactions, exotic options, unit contingent generation, locational spreads, etc.

Job Specific Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Quantitative Analyst-grade level 28):

• Graduate degree in mathematics, statistics, physics or finance

• At least two years of experience working in energy trading or financial related products (commodities strongly preferred)

Basic Qualifications (Sr Quantitative Analyst-grade level 29):

• Graduate degree in mathematics, statistics, physics or finance

• At least four years of experience working in energy trading or financial related products (commodities strongly preferred)

Required Competencies:

  • Candidate must possess analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, be results oriented, creative and innovative, be a team player, show leadership and decision-making abilities

  • Must be conversant and hands on with state-of-the-art statistical techniques and the mathematics of option theory

  • Demonstrated ability to perform at sustained high energy and performance level and generate innovative and creative ideas/concepts

  • Candidate must foster an inclusive work environment and respect all aspects of diversity and the successful candidate must demonstrate and value differences in others' strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices

Desired Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Excellent Excel skills and programming skills in VBA and Math-related packages such as SPLUS or Matlab

  • Power and Gas pricing experience
