Perform activities relating to designing, building, testing, implementing and maintaining solutions, products and processes under the guidance of a Lead Analyst or Manager. May assist in the coordination of tasks for subordinates. Independence level: Works under general supervision..


1 Perform, document and assist in planning work activities relating to projects, sub-projects, or processes. For Projects: analyze requirements, design, build, and test IT software solutions in accordance with IT project management standards. For operations/application maintenance: enhance, maintain or support existing IT products and processes to the defined service level agreement

2 Maintain engagement with business and IT partners.

3 Assist less experienced personnel.

4 Proactively build business/IT knowledge to provide solutions.

5 Utilize best practices to improve products and services. Apply and verify compliance to standards as defined within the Management Model.


This position supports the design, documentation and management of telecommunication systems in the Telecommunication group responsible for Networks and System Engineering. This position performs work that conforms to all project/task requirements that requires basic understanding and application of telecommunication engineering theories, standards, concepts, techniques associated with the design, installation and provisioning of utility telecommunication systems. Provides and documents settings and configurations of telecommunication systems. Provide engineering and technical direction in the implementation of telecommunication system projects, studies, plans and engineering activities requiring initiative and sound engineering judgment. Will work on configuration and administration of state-of-the-art telecommunication systems such as Synchronized Optical Networks (SONET), Ethernet switched networks, DWDM transport systems, firewalls and radio networks. Systems engineering necessary to support network security, stability, and monitoring. This position is a NERC regulated position.



  • Typically 0-2 years experience in related experience into include the following: Network Routing Protocols: IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF, RIPv1, RIPv2, IS-IS, EGP, BGP. Routed Network, Protocols: IP, TCP, UDP, DHCP, BOOTP, SSH, FTP. TFTP, SMTP, SNMP, SLIP, PPP, ARP, RARP, SIP. Networks: Ethernet, FDDI, ATM, SONET, ISDN, OSI, Frame Relay, DWDM, T1 and T3. Installation and configuration network support systems: syslog servers, radius servers, bootp/dhcp servers, ftp servers, tftp servers, ntp servers, PTP servers, dns servers.

  • • Appropriate technical skills: Use and configuration of the following network tools: SolarWinds, VitalQIP, Network General Sniffer Portable, WireShark, Entersys products, Visio, CA products, Microsoft Windows and windows product installs, Linux and Linux application installs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred

  • Ability to understand and communicate customer issues

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
