Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, review and perform interconnection studies for generation and transmission projects including offshore wind, energy storage, solar and other new clean energy technologies.

  • Conduct substation analyses to identify local project impacts and upgrades of substation equipment required to maintain its reliable operation.

  • Review modeling data and interconnection study reports prepared by external entities.

  • Serve as a single point of contact for project developers and New York Independent System Operator (NYISO).

  • Coordinate Company resources to provide support to an interconnection process governed by the NYISO including coordination of field visits.

  • Disseminate relevant information to other departments and solicit feedback and recommendations as to the potential impact of a developer's project on the bulk electric transmission system.

  • Open billing orders, timely report billable work hours and close billing orders.

  • May be required to act as a Manager during the absence of Section Manager.

  • Represent the department on internal and external committees, teams and task forces and at regulatory proceedings.

  • Performs other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science And 2 years of full time work experience that includes one year of applicable work experience in the application and theory of electrical engineering principles in the area of planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system - ASSOCIATE ENGINEER A (1H) ASSOCIATE ENGINEER (1H) Or

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science And 3 years applicable work experience in the application and theory of electrical engineering principles in the area of planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system - ENGINEER (2L) ENGINEER (2L) Or

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science

    • And 8 years applicable work experience in the application and theory of electrical engineering principles in the area of planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system - SR ENGINEER (2H) SR. ENGINEER (2H) Or
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electric Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science

    • And 6 years applicable work experience in the application and theory of electrical engineering principles in the area of planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system - SR ENGINEER (2H).

Required Work Experience

  • Relevant experience must include application and theory of electrical engineering principles in the area of planning, design and/or operation of the bulk electrical transmission system. Required

  • Must have computer literacy and the ability to direct the usage of electronic computer-based analytical simulations as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Required

  • Experience working productively and effectively in a team environment. Required

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Req

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.

  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory.

  • Must be willing to travel throughout the USA and Canada to attend industry and regulatory meetings.
