Job Description

Core Responsibilities
Directs Managed Service Provider (MSP) teams responsible for building and operating ConEd's database systems, tool sets, procedures, runbooks and testing standards.
Drives compliance reporting follow-ups to ensure that audit deliverables are timely, complete, and accurate.
Collaborates with business owners, applications and cyber support groups ensuring the security, integrity, and availability of data. Directs database performance procedure reviews, testing guidelines and performance tuning measures.
Provides technical advice and guidance for database design, access, backups and problem resolution. Oversees and develops standards for database operational activities.
Leads the MSP to ensure database recovery and restart procedures are developed and operational. Leads database problem resolution including recovery and performance validation.
Leads database ongoing support, including systems upgrades and proactive communications to IT and business audiences.
Oversees the MSP work product to ensure that tasks, incidents and changes are properly qualified and timely.
Collaborates with server, storage, and cyber subject matter experts and other support teams to ensure prompt response, resolution, analysis, trending, and root cause analysis during outage situations. Evaluates and improves incident response processes as well as routine reviews of communication procedures.
Facilitates working with strategic database vendors while managing purchases for hardware & software licenses. Tracks projects, budgets and administrative reporting as designated by the Systems Manager.
Required Education/Experience
High School Diploma/GED and with at least seven (7) years of relevant full time work experience. or
Associate's Degree preferably in Computer Science, Management Information System, Engineering, Business/Finance or related field. and with at least five (5) years of relevant full time work experience. or
Bachelor's Degree preferably in Computer Science, Management Information System, Engineering, Business/Finance or related field. and with at least three (3) years of relevant full time work experience. or
Master's Degree preferably in Computer Science, Management Information System, Engineering, Business/Finance or related field. and with at least three (2) years of relevant full time work experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
- Master's Degree preferably in Computer Science, Management Information System, Engineering, Business/Finance or related field. and with at least three (2) years of relevant full time work experience.
Relevant Work Experience
Recent experience working as a DBA with background in Windows and/or Linux.
Hands on experience with database management and monitoring tools.
Strong knowledge of database best practices including issue identification, assessment, and remediation.
Supervisory and managerial experience with a proven ability to motivate people.
Experienced in managing database planning and design projects, as well as hands experience with SQL and Oracle products
Experienced leading DBA teams and managing associated KPIs and metrics.
Performs other related tasks and assignments as required.
