Under the CBS IT Digital Services department, this position will be responsible for leading the innovative test of business solutions, implemented through IT, to enable the business to meet its objectives. The role, together with support from Entergy's Enterprise Architect (EA) function and IT Business Analyst (BA) are responsible for creating a fully integrated, effective business solution. The role is an active thought leader and test services visionary who shapes the technology demand among the business unit.

The role requires an in-depth understanding of product strategy, management and delivery of testing and DevSecOps technologies and processes; including automated testing software such as Tricentis Tosca, Jira, Jenkins and other DevSecOps tools. The IT Solution Architect will strategically innovate, develop, and lead the implementation of new end-to-end process technology resulting in robust, sustainable, automated and integrated technologies supporting testing and a full Continuous Integration/Continuous Development/Continuous Testing (CI/CD/CT) tech stack. This position will collaborate with the various IT towers to implement automation technologies to create efficiency and reduce cycle time and errors of critical business processes. This role will also extend the products to solve our most challenging use cases by building development skills across the IT organization to integrate a wide variety of systems with automation technology. This role will serve as the technology subject matter expert (SME) for Test and DevSecOps and help shape the direction, decisions and frameworks in definition and deployment of the capabilities across the enterprise application portfolio.

The team member will be principally responsible for the solution architecture, design, and implementation oversight of Entergy’s test and DevSecOps processes, standards, and services being deployed as part of Entergy’s IT Test and DevSecOps; including technical oversight of Entergy’s Test COE service provider. The team member will also support the Enterprise Architecture Committee (EAC) Business Architecture Sub-Committee (AAC) as a Test and DevSecOps technology Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for the definition, review, and approval of standards and procedures.

This position will report directly to the Manger, IT Service Delivery, who is principally focused on Test and DevSecOps transformation and innovation.


  1. Serve as the primary technical SME for their assigned area(s)/domain(s), including:

  2. Serve as a technical expert/consultant to business stakeholders, business clients, Program Managers, BAs, peer SAs, and vendors

  3. Support technology and/or application road mapping based on business strategies, capabilities, and requirements

  4. Support Lifecycle road mapping for standard Entergy technology and applications

  5. Work with EA to evaluate emerging trends and technologies

  6. Adopt Industry and domain best practices

  7. Support Point of Views and Proof of Concepts

  8. Provide technology and application expertise

  9. Provide technical oversight to contracted support services

  10. Provide Tier III technical support as needed

  11. Serve as Entergy’s technical lead on assigned projects, including:

  12. Support annual project portfolio planning

  13. Perform IT estimation during the Business Case phase

  14. Conduct Complexity Assessment to determine proper level of Solution Development Lifecycle (SDLC) rigor

  15. Support the solution sourcing and selection process (e.g. Requests for Proposals and Statements of Work processes)

  16. Enforce adherence to EA standards

  17. Provide technical oversight to contracted delivery services

  18. Create test strategies and plans

  19. Maintain Requirements Traceability Matrix as established by the BA

  20. Support all project execution phases (i.e. Initiation, Definition, Design, Construction, Test, and Deployment)


Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in the Computer Science or Software Engineering field or the equivalent work experience. Advanced degree is a plus.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 7+ years of performing application development, Quality Assurance, and/or testing

  • 7+ years of experience in implementing and/or supporting application testing processes and leading testing services

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  1. Deep understanding and practical experience of industry solutions

  2. Working knowledge in all areas of technology (infrastructure, commercial applications, software development, end-user platforms, IT operations).

  3. Planning experience, especially the design of longer term strategies.

  4. Ability to communicate and present effectively with all levels in the organization, including executive management.

  5. Excellent interpersonal communications skills.

  6. Excellent writing and presentation skills.

  7. Working knowledge of architecture concepts and the ability to integrate business needs and technology capabilities.

  8. Strong working knowledge of software development lifecycle and methodologies, including Agile and waterfall-based processes

  9. Experience in project delivery in highly outsourced environments, and

  10. In depth knowledge of multiple technologies aligned with IT standards, including Test platforms (e.g. Tosca, Microfocus ALM, Selenium, etc.) and DevSecOps tool sets (e.g. Jira, Jenkins, Checkmarx, Copado, etc.)

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

Technology certifications are a plus.
