Nature of Work:
This position will be responsible for developing and teaching CDL concepts to students looking to obtain a CDL Learners Permit and/or Class A CDL with manual transmission, air brakes and tanker endorsement. Instruction will include all skills related to Pre and Post Trip Inspection, backing skills and road test. Trainer will follow CDL curriculum in 49 CFR Part 380, Appendix A.
CDL training will be held at the KS Energy yard and / or training facility in New Berlin WI. Students will be traveling from other KS locations across the Midwest.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Driver Training record keeping and certification for State Licensing Agency’s and / or CDL testing sites.
Prepare for and deliver instruction to students following curriculum and behind the wheel
Assess student performance
Complete evaluation and follow-up
Complete record keeping and certification for licensing agency’s
Communicate with management student status
Conduct random FMCSA drug testing
Required Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Class A CDL with Airbrakes, Manual Transmission, Fifth Wheel and Tanker Endorsement.
Possess and maintain a good driving record with DOT/DMV and DOT Roadside Inspections.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a truck driver.
Professionally conduct class and the ability to speak in front of students and team members
Be able to develop a pretest and how to use it.
Ability to demonstrate the maneuverability with large vehicles and trailers
Have working knowledge of roadside inspections
Ability to ride with students and give instruction
Able to advise and coach student on academic issues
Be able to maintain certification and stay current in FMCSA regulations
Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of State requirements is helpful.
