The Supervisor Stores - Polk is responsible for the safe, proper, and cost-effective operation of Polk Warehouse. This position will require extensive experience in power plant and or heavy industrial Warehousing, to include inventory process’s, shipping/receiving, material handling, knowledge of plant equipment and operations in order to maximize productivity, unit availability and station reliability while maintaining warehouse business operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish Contractor work schedules to ensure proper staffing levels
Respond to plant needs with 24/7 coverage as required
Coordinate unloading of incoming shipments, orderly storage of material, and picking and staging of outbound material requests
Direct the physical inventory of stock items within the required cycle times. Review short stock and research issue errors assigning correct Work Orders
Ensure optimal utilization of space through warehouse consolidation
Conduct operations in accordance with OSHA and SDS Standards
Coordinate Warehouse and training programs to maximize productivity and optimize cross-training. Ensure employees are trained and certified as required for operation of forklift equipment and off-road vehicles
Ensure Safe Work Practices are adhered to. Complete and file safety reports, and ensure all employees are in compliance with all safety training requirements. Ensure EPA regulations are followed in the storing, handling, shipping, and disposing of hazardous materials/waste. Ensure all transportation of material is performed in accordance with DOT regulations
Oversee tool room functions and budgets
Track consumable costs and provide appropriate reporting
Plant Support and Problem Solving
Work with Purchasing and Plant Personnel in expedition of parts and or materials as required.
Work with Vendors and Plant Personnel regarding material problem resolution
Work with Plant Personnel in identification of potential obsolete inventories
Direct disposition of obsolete equipment and materials for temporary storage and transportation to recovery locations
Required: High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred: College degree in Business or Engineering from an accredited institution
Required: Minimum of 7 years warehouse experience in a power plant or heavy industry environment
Proficient in the use of SAP software, Workman, Inventory Barcoding, and ToolHound program
Experience in reading and understanding drawings, flow diagrams, instruction books, etc.
Experienced in Power Plant operations, maintenance, and procedures
Preferred:5 years supervisory experience supervising covered or craft employees
This position requires an understanding of power plant or industrial process operations
This position also requires the ability to direct and/or collaborate with others to operate, maintain, and resolve technical and process issues
The ability to lead and motivate team members to meet company/station goals and personal development needs is also required
Strong communication and teamwork skills are necessary
Work will be in an office environment, as well as "hard-hat" areas (dust, noise, heat, and cold). Much of the work is performed on an industrial site and may be exposed to loud noise, moving equipment, and be in proximity to high voltages and currents. Conditions will require employee to wear safety equipment such as hard-hats, eye and hearing protection. Extended periods of either sitting or standing/walking. Examples of the physical requirements may include:
Walking up or down numerous flights of stairs.
Communicate verbally and in writing with a need to be able to hear both speech (radio or face-to-face) and alarms.
Ability to perform physical work while bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds, and/or carrying up to 20 pounds.
Position involves travel between warehouse locations and other Tampa Electric locations.
