BWXT is currently seeking a Buyer for its Mt Vernon, IN location!

Job Description/Duties:

  • Utilize purchasing policies and procedures to prepare accurate solicitations, which reflect all technical and administrative requirements.

  • Evaluate bids, select suppliers, and place purchase orders to approved suppliers accordingly.

  • Manage supplier submittals for compliance with technical and commercial specifications.

  • Coordinate the communications of technical and commercial information between internal functional stakeholders and the supplier to ensure successful order processing by subcontract machining suppliers.

  • Allocate material to subcontract suppliers for machining.

  • Perform complete bid analysis with supporting documentation in support of purchasing requirements.

  • Coordinate resolution of supplier technical problems, claims, and specification issues as needed.

  • Track open orders and report status on a monthly basis or as required in support of the business needs.

  • Manage open invoice issues and delivery discrepancies with internal customers and external suppliers.

  • Manage the vendor approval process for the commodities assigned.

  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers.

    Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required.

  • Must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in materials management or purchasing.

  • Commodity experience in a manufacturing environment procuring alloy based small to medium lot machined components is preferred.

  • Experience with ancillary outside processing such as sublet machining, and fabrication is required.

  • Must have familiarity with government purchasing regulations FARS and DFARS.

  • Must have experience with SAP purchasing functionality requisition to receipt processes.

  • Microsoft Excel basic spreadsheet capabilities along with Word and Power Point basic skills is required.

  • Must have strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.

  • Must be able to clearly communicate with suppliers and in-house technical personnel.

  • Meet Purchasing goals and business expectations for cost, quality, and service.

  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
